Nets don't care about FA signings like that, they're not looking to clear space for max contracts at all. To them and teams like them, their cap space is a trade asset
and with it they just acquired a guy who'd basically be a top 5 pick in this year's draft (top 10 easily if you're just the hating type).
There's times when you sell high on a rookie contract, but this definitely wasn't it... Half of Russell's on the court problems could've been solved if people just stopped with the "He can pass, so he's a PG!" bullshyt. Legit stunted his development with that nonsense.
Guys, I agree with everything you've both said. Lakers utilized that asset of cap space BK provides. BK's price to do it was D. Lo. BK gets a good young player and Lakers get from under that crippling contract. I didn't say I thought it was a bad trade, I'm saying that's what Mike and Jemele thought was bad. We're not contending for a long time, taking that contract was nothing for us. So we got a 21 year old #2 pick in 2015 for an expiring contract and the 27th pick
This is a W for us all day, anyone saying otherwise needs to get their head checked
And that's not saying it cant be a W for the Lakers too if they wind up with their dream scenario. But its an immediate W for Brooklyn
