Don't understand what people are complaining about. This is a great trade for both teams....Lakers clearing cap space, and acquired a 1st rd pick......nets getting a young talent.......Mozkov's contract is a non issue...the nets are under the cap,and in no position to make a deep playoff run.Mozkov's contract will help the nets reach the nba cap minimum.

:hubie:I ain't saying he's Kobe, but I'm saying. The west is better now than it was in '98 and Kobe wasn't going against starters
Kobe had a complete game and his defense was first team. He was NBA ready skill wise from the jump. He was limited by his minutes as we all know retroactively because his usage rate climbed, so did his skills and stats exponentially. We cant say the same for D Lo...yet.

the average player doesnt hit their stride til their 2nd deal :dwillhuh:

The guy yall wolfing about....PG didnt hit his stride til year 3 :dwillhuh:
Kemba didn't hit his stride until the ink dried on his second contract

Our whole FO basically admitted to signing him based on the fact that he was a good guy and that they believed in his potential

Patience, what a novel concept :wow:

General consensus seems to be like it was a good deal for both teams. Dlo was done once thy got the 2nd pick. LA has room to get max free agents in 2018.

I don't know how you spin it as a good deal for the Lakers...unless you think Russel is going to be a bust and you wasted a number 2 pick on him...or that you draft Ball and he is THAT much better than Russel...

The problem is this is the type of deal Magic could have done whenever...the Nets aren't going to be making any moves any time soon that would make them NOT take Russell...Magic should have at least waited until the draft and said "so team X who didn't get the point guard you wanted you ready to talk about Russell now...or even later in free agency and say "so team X who didn't sign the point guard you wanted you ready to talk about Russell now..." Seems like they just got desperate to trade Russell RIGHT NOW...

And if that is the case then this move ISNT about getting Lebron it's about getting Paul George RIGHT NOW...and all you got to do is ask Knick fans how it turned out for them when their team traded a bunch of assets to go get a guy who they already knew was coming to them next year...

I view this trade as a signal to Paul George...hey look Paul I went and got a good player in Lopez he is ready to play RIGHT NOW...when if all the sources are right the only thing the Lakers have to do to get Paul George is wait...

Teams have moved worse contracts than this Mozgov one.

Didn't need to move a solid young player to do it either. Especially when they don't even know for sure if these FAs are even coming for sure...
Nets probably would have eaten Mozgovs contract if the Lakers just threw them that late first rounder considering how draft pick depleted they are
