Yeah and what do you think the average base contract is? I know someone who was in a main event in the last year whose base still isn't 6 figures. Let's say its 50k and they are getting 50k a fight for 2x fights. Now subtract the stuff I mentioned a few posts above. Do you honestly believe that is fair for a main event fighter? Do you even know what Dana is bringing in with gate and ppv or commercial revenue if it's not a ppv event?

A mid level boxer is bringing in 4 or 5x what a main event ufc guy is bringing man, I don't care what you guys are posting that is NOT getting a fair shake, especially if they are putting their bodies on the line in the same manner.

The fighters don't want to say anything because they don't want to get tossed in the bushes so it's up to the media and you guys the fans. Like I said earlier I'm not that big of a fan so it's whatever to me but you guys shouldn't be defending this stuff and make excuses for Dana.

I clearly stated I think fighters are underpaid, my comment was purely about disclosed salaries not being a completely accurate representation of what UFC fighters make. And really I think the undisclosed salaries are a part of the problem, it allows Dana to avoid questions about what the fighters actually make, is unfair for fighters negotiating contracts and allows UFC to play favorites and pay who they please without it being based on the merit of competition.

That said there's nothing wrong at all with initial contracts of $8k/8k, really the most underpaid guys are the top level talent.

I'm not saying give millions to bums, I'm saying give them their fair share. I don't see GoldenBoy, Top Rank, Dibella etc folding for what they pay their boxers. What makes you think UFC will?
:beli: do goldenboy and all those promotions have damn near a thousand fighters under one umbrella (in a fighting league) too.Because you do remember affliction right? u would be forgiven if you didnt, it was a fly by night mma outfit with the idealist approach of paying fighters there erm "fair share" we saw how that worked :youngsabo:

And don't give me that "boxing has been around longer" if a boxer and an mma fighter are drawing the same amount of money there is no excuse for them not to be getting paid around the same.
boxing is always going to be around and every so often there is going to be that money fight that nets 2 million + buys.MMA cant say the same.. :ld:

also whats disgraceful about nate diazs pay is that he won TUF 5 and beat maynard on that show

How can maynard be making more than diaz smh

Dana cant pay people like this then call ufc the biggest combat sport

Maynard until the Edgar KO was undefeated I think. Plus hes headlined 3 ppvs. Diaz has a much lower win percentage and has never come close to even co main a ppv

Go read the multiple interviews, or even the release form the commission provides states it doesnt disclose the other monies paid out.

There have been tonnes of fighters, commission employees, and even Dana himself who stated they pay out other money. In addition, the biggest set of money the fighters do get is the % of ppv buy. Which trumps the salaries most times.
