The funny part here is I don't really follow the sport like that but I would bet I interact with more mma fighters than anyone here. The cost for their camps are at the least doubled of what the avg boxing camp cost due to the # of trainers that have to be paid. At the LEAST two coaches have to be paid, I know people that have paid four trainers in their camps boxing/MuayThai, bjj, wrestling and strength and conditioning.

Now a guy that loses and gets paid 8k has to pay taxes, give everyone their cut, pay his bills etc. You guys bring up sponsors but unless you are getting sponsored by the big dogs you are not seeing any real money. There is a reason that most of these guys have to wait until the night of their fights to get older injuries treated, it's because that's the only time of the year they have insurance.

bbbbbbut they are getting secret money that we don't know about :troll:

Obviously this doesn't apply to the dudes at the top(even though they are getting fukked as well).

9/10 ppvs they do are not ppv worthy, what happened to Dana of the past that'll put the show on tv if the card is weak, his greed is catching up with him
how long have you been an mma fan brah? you think those cards that had 7 potential main eventers were going to last forever :russ: things bottom out.The ufc has grown and the fighters need to be stretched out.We still get credible ppv headliners its just the rest of the card that somewhat ufn status..But boxing has been that way forever
There isn't good pay because they aren't many good fighters. How many people do we see actually try to exert their discipline in the fight? Wrestlers and maybe Machida? Everyone else boils down to a bunch of punch happy people swinging wildly at each other with bad cardio.
you know you are an idiot when u have me and that clown meelad92 agreeing on something. Its like wow have you not in the very least heard of anderson silva :why:

If fights like Adrien Broner vs Marcos Maidana can be put on Showtime and moved off of PPV, let's me know all that I need to do. I live 30 minutes from Chicago so I'm bombarded with the upcoming UFC event at the United Center. Neither of these guys are belt holders and when Ben was, he wasn't really that impressive. Why are they charging money for this?

In any event, because Dana is judge, jury and executioner, they don't have a choice or a snowball's chance in hell of changing it. Where are you going to go? Bellator? Give it five years, UFC will likely buy them too.

It's on FOX.

Can't even afford insurance yet they are getting paid "secret money", you know what the IRS would do to the UFC if ANYTHING like that was going on.

I've posted pics in the gym thread with ufc fighters before so they can't claim I'm spitting :duck: In the last UFC card I was telling the dudes in that thread how Rashad Evans was at my son's wrestling school training with D1 wrestlers(I use their s&c gym for my workouts) and that is exactly how he ended up beating Sonnen. All the guys I talk to have the same issue but it's not a problem because a few dudes on thecoli say it isn't :shaq2:

These fans are just as bad as Dana for defending him, nikkas aren't fans of mma they are fans of the ufc. A fan of the sport would want the fighters to get a fair share for getting their heads busted, not make an excuse for a guy making tons of money off their sweat and paying them shyt.

It's not some secret money given under the table hidden from the IRS, it's just not disclosed publicly. I'm the first one to criticize UFC about fighter pay but they definitely make more than what gets listed, many fighters have verified this and a couple have even posted pics of their checks on the mixedmartialarts.com message board, Ian McCall had a six figure check even though his disclosed pay was $8k/8k

that kind of reasoning went out of date when strikeforce folded.I am sorry to be frank but u would have to be delusion not to see mma's popularity has plateaued and is in regression. If the 3 letters U-F-C can reach new heights while taking mma with it (by virtue) isnt that a good thing? look at the number#2 mma org.Look at whats become of rampage without the zuffa hype behind him mma is still a fringe sport by in large and you are here talking about fair share. What do you think matt brown's value is? here is a man that will never be champion and isnt exactly versatile or popular. Say you were dana what would you pay him :rudy:

Yeah and what do you think the average base contract is? I know someone who was in a main event in the last year whose base still isn't 6 figures. Let's say its 50k and they are getting 50k a fight for 2x fights. Now subtract the stuff I mentioned a few posts above. Do you honestly believe that is fair for a main event fighter? Do you even know what Dana is bringing in with gate and ppv or commercial revenue if it's not a ppv event?

A mid level boxer is bringing in 4 or 5x what a main event ufc guy is bringing man, I don't care what you guys are posting that is NOT getting a fair shake, especially if they are putting their bodies on the line in the same manner.

The fighters don't want to say anything because they don't want to get tossed in the bushes so it's up to the media and you guys the fans. Like I said earlier I'm not that big of a fan so it's whatever to me but you guys shouldn't be defending this stuff and make excuses for Dana.

I'm not saying give millions to bums, I'm saying give them their fair share. I don't see GoldenBoy, Top Rank, Dibella etc folding for what they pay their boxers. What makes you think UFC will?

And don't give me that "boxing has been around longer" if a boxer and an mma fighter are drawing the same amount of money there is no excuse for them not to be getting paid around the same.
