I don't understand why Dak isn't requesting the non exclusive tag. Other team pays him and Boyz get picks. Everybody wins. We CAN NOT franchise tag him again and get NOTHING for it when he leaves after next season

That's the tag most teams use, but teams wouldn't negotiate in good faith, because why give up 2 first round draft picks if you know he might be a free agent in one year anyway. Dallas again has no leverage. They want Dak to test the market, but if a team has to give up 2 first round picks, that will taint negotiations. Not to mention, he wants a 3 year deal. No team is going to give up 2 first round picks for only a potential 3 years. Other teams have to abide by the same salary cap.

If the QB is older, it's not worth it.
If the QB is young, waiting a year is no big deal.
