You ignored the part where YOUR OWN QUOTE said you could sell family INTO SLAVERY

And no, I do not think modern, western marriage is slavery

Modern Western marriage is beyond the opposite of slavery for women, that shyt is a come up...:mjcry:

Yall changing the subject now lol, this is directly from the bible, are you guys ok with this

47The servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows. 48 But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

LOL, that's part of a PARABLE based on existing ROMAN laws!!!!

Think again.....

“Slave” could be used to refer to a subordinate in the social ladder. Thus the subjects of a king were called his “slaves,” even though they were free citizens. The king himself, if a vassal, was the “slave” of his emperor; kings, emperors, and commoners alike were “slaves” of the gods. Even a social inferior, when addressing a social superior, referred to himself out of politeness as “your slave.”

......since this is what the term meant in the ANE.

So, selling your fam into 'slavery' in the ANE was getting them a job for which they were paid.....which according to YOUR definition, is not 'slavery'.

:mjlol:

You really can't read worth a damn.

Its not what was meant at the time, since you could be SOLD INTO A SUBJUGATED STATUS

Or an 'elevated' one since the term meant something vastly different at the time than what it means to you right now as has been stated over and over and over and over.......

I mean, the fukking mental gymnastics involved in accepting this extremely flawed ancient text as divinely inspired... :snoop:

There aren't any mental gymnastics:

(1) Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

You just lack understanding....

No, it's you that lacks understanding.

“And if a man beats his male or female servant with a rod, so that he dies under his hand, he shall surely be punished. Notwithstanding, if he remains alive a day or two, he shall not be punished; for he is his property."

This is condoning beating your slave, as long as they do not die on the day you do it.

It's not that hard to understand. And if it was any other ancient text, you would have no problem realizing how fukked up it was. But because it's the Bible, you jump through hoops trying to justify it instead of accepting the facts.

Was that the ONLY form of slavery?

That wouldn't be 'slavery' according to YOUR definition, now would it?

Since the bible says you can sell people into slavery?

The ANE definition of the term =/= YOUR definition of the term so you need to clarify what YOU mean by the term in this question.

The bible is very intersting

"Luke 16:18 KJV

Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery."

According to that once you get a divorce you can never have sex again without it being a sin. Sex before marriage is a sin and of you marry again it's adultery which is a sin. You're in a lose lose situation
