Rap is simple...

If you can’t make a single that resonates you’ll never go where you want to

There are plenty who have failed that can attest
Not just a single but also have something that stands out in some way that shines through the music.

Bishop Lamont is a typical artist who really can spit bars and flow as good as any of the dope rappers out, but he has no personality, his production didn't stand out, his flow didn't, voice didn't, bars didn't, "swag" didn't, delivery, life story and on. He's "just" very good at spitting bars over west coast beats.

But if we look at other rappers from the west coast like Schoolboy, Kendrick, YG, Tyler, Earl and on. These people all have a lot of things that differentiate them from others. If not that you need a hit song. Ideally both.

A story as old as time

You may be able to put words together
You may know people

But that’s all in vain if you don’t have those unique qualities that make it count for something

First and foremost, I've definitely torn a page off this shyt:russ:

https://www.thecoli.com/threads/da-hell-happened-to-saigon.723299/

But anyways, what the fukk happened? He literally went ghost on us after leaving Aftermath. It wasnt like he was weak so i thought the fans would still rock with him after the fact. I still think N Noize is one of the best mixtapes that have ever dropped and I would much rather play his shyt over Crooked I's due to crooked's horrible beat picking lol. Bishop showed versitily in terms of subject matter and had a decent voice and was consistent so I thought having those would help in the relevance factor at least.

Don't know but boy caltroit is a fukkin classic :ohlawd:

I’m surprised none of y’all mentioned So Cold

They call us gangstas
We claim we gangstas
But what about them slave ships that came to take us?
Ain't been no criminal act greater than that
Not since Christ's crucified worldwide, believe that
Ugh, shyt.. I'm talkin' 400 YEARS!!
I know the oceans overflow from our blood and our tears
While shackled on them ships and brought on to this bytch
They, kept us in them chains and beat us with them whips and
shyt ain't really changed, so nikkas don't forget
Cause nikkas still wear chains it's just now we push the whips
So close, yet so far away
I guess the sayin' ain't true that every dog has his day
Cause we've been dogged and treated like dogs
And really even worse
Shyt it’s like we cursed
As soon as we're birthed and placed on this Earth
They hung us from them trees and burned down the church and
Just to think about it
The shyt really hurts
And if the Klan want a race war, you KNOW I'm bombin' first
