Appreciate your input bro. +1.

Yeah as said early i kinda see ur point about Bishop being an a$$hole. Cuz thats how he came off.

Im not sure when Kendrick really signed for Interscope. I was following him & Rock very very early. Im talking from '06. But Kendrick
really started to bubble some buzz around Section 80. Unless im unaware, he wasn't signed to Interscope at the time - at least officially.

So Interscope/Dre didn't really have to do much with him to present him IMO. Largely thnx to the internet era he blew up in. Had GKMC not been a good/great project i doubt Kendrick would still be on Interscope still. Cuz it wasnt like he had hit singles & all. It was word of mouth based on the project being really dope that spread.

So maybe hes an exception to the rule.

Kendrick signed with Aftermath and Interscope after Section.80 dropped, but he had already began working with Dr. Dre while he was recording it.

Work ethic in the studio wasn't great and more importantly he treated people at the label like shyt. Some ugly stuff happened. Eventually the headache was too much and they let him walk.

Didn't help he went on Shade 45 called Crack A Bottle wack and he was leaking songs.

Maybe, maybe not.

I was fukkin with Bishop, especially when he dropped "****** Noize". Still bump a few joints now.

It seemed as if he was trying to take the 50 Cent/Game route tho. He had a pattern
where he'd be cool with somebody, then fall out with them & making subliminals about it. Then he'd be cool again or say he
wasn't dissing them, but not cool again.

Happened with him & Big Fase, Game, Glasses, Snoop, Tyrese, 50 Cent, Dre & so on. That is something i noticed with Spider Loc too. So i figured
either its publicity or something is wrong with them.

Maybe he had pressure from Interscope & thats why but idk.
he sent subliminal at fif?

I just think Dre/Interscope dont work well with regular emcees that aint gangsta rappers/formulaic. They're used to a formula & when you
dont fit that then they dont know how to market you, especially if you plan on hittin the mainstream.

Look at the "unsuccessful" rappers under Dre/Interscope - Stat Quo, Rakim, Bishop, Hittman etc - all non gangsta rappers.

Eminem obviously isnt a gangsta rapper but his "gimmick" was that he was white & was goin at all the pop stars. That along with a HUGE machine to make him become rap's Elvis (even tho Eminem can rhyme very well!) to make profit off the largest demographic in the US (aka white people)
They talked about street shyt though, maybe not "ima kill you or sell 500 keys of dope" but they all rapped about street shyt or explicit shyt at the least.

Kendrick blows this argument up tho. Ironically Dre wasn't sold on Kendrick out the gate. He liked the music Kendrick was doing before he signed...but once they started recording he wasn't blown away by the records and didn't know whether Kdot was going to win. I left Interscopre right before GKMC came out. People forget that they were trying to force hits on him, Lupe style. Passing him tracks. Gaga was gonna be on BDKMV, Rocky's single (fukking Problems) was made for Kendrick, etc. But as with Cole, he ended up knocking it out the park sales wise because he had a fanbase. And the rest is history.

Bishop Lamont didn't blow because he was an a$$hole and wasn't working up to Dre's standards. Dre is the type of dude who thinks working in a studio 5-10 hours a day on music that will never come out is "working hard." He wants dudes to write hooks, 16s, etc etc all day for him...and then work on their own music. Bishop was tired of that shyt, understandably, but he also wasn't putting in the work on his own project. And then of course when you violate other expectations/rules/laws without the clout of success to save your ass...you get kicked out.
What was he doing, thought he was just put on the shelf like a lot of aftermath artists

also when you were at interscope were they blackballing 50 and G-Unit.

Bishop leaked songs without Dr. Dre's consent. I also remember he went at Snoop and Cube.

I copped "Reformation" when it finally dropped, it was a cool album.

He put put a lot of music but for whatever reason he didnt seem to resonate with the main stream. Maybe if he had followed Dre's direction and lead with "I Dominate" followed by "Grow Up" he could have popped.

"Grow Up" was a great single though, it sucks he had to leak it and then it basically got shut down.

Dre let him release alot of songs they did together which is cool though.
