Yeah, i was there when they wrote it in the studio.
The song was for a dude named BAL i knew. A bunch of songs he was working on. He knows Cuban. Song was recorded at some studio in the garment district. Can't remember where.

I think it was recorded when they were recording or right before the terror squad album. My memory is real bad. But i remember Cuban didn't want Joe to know about it so we had to sit on the song and it never came out.

Didn't Pun's death factor into the business problems?

My man bought Pun's second album, and in the insert I think they were promoting Cuban Link's upcoming project. I assume they were under the same record company, and Pun's success and cosign, & Joe's politicking landed Cuban the shot.

With Pun gone, label was probably less sure for Cuban to be able to pop as an artist. Joe is infamous for taking the lion's share of the deals he shopped for other artists. Remy and Tony Sunshine said this before.
Joe was a music industry vet at this point, so not a stretch to imagine that he jerked or confessed Cuban.
I always assumed that Joe predicted the label would withdraw or shelf Cuban, so he ate before the faucet was turned off.

I heard joe say that as well the only thing Cuban was missing was a definitely a real big hit Atlantic would have pushed the button and 24k would have dropped on time yeah they spent M's on Cuban but they didn't push Cuban esp when it was the latin explosion.
