I currently have the Amex Gold for the grocery shopping and restaurants/eating out but I'm thinking about switching over to Blue cash preferred. You get 6% in grocery stores but only up to $6000 a year and 6% on streaming services and 3% on gas. I don't use any of the travel perks that come with the gold card. I lose the 4x points on eating out but I have the custom cash card by citi and can use two exclusively as my eating out card because I'll get 5% back in restaurants using that card. In terms of groceries, it has the $6000 a year cap, I have chase freedom card and the Amazon prime card and throughout the year they usually have a time period where groceries are 5% cash back, so I could use that once in a while so I don't pass that $6000 a year cap. The annual fee difference $250 to $95. Am I better off switching to Blue cash preferred ?
FYI you can product change a Citi card into a custom cash card now allowing you to have more than one.

A 2nd custom cash could be used as a 5% grocery card with no annual fee and as long as your spend is under $500 a month you're good. That can be further supported with Chase Freedom and Discover It which usually each offer 5% back on grocery in different quarters on an additional $1500 in spend a quarter. That's 6 months of their $1500.

There are other options. I been thinking about product changing my Citi double cash into a 2nd custom cash.

I can't remember if it's been said. If you have Amazon Prime and don't have the Prime Rewards Credit Card, you're holding an L. I don't even use Amazon all that heavily and the 5% back purely from Amazon purchases covers the cost of the Prime membership.

Well damn...never thought about that shyt until I saw this comment.

I use prime all the time.

Getting the card tomorrow.

I will then have a specific card for:

Restaurants.
Grocery's.
Amazon Prime.
I use my AMEX cash back for everything else.

Citibank Custom Cash Back card. 5% back on your highest category.

Got two of them. One for groceries one for restaurants.
This works if your grocery spend is under $500 a month. Past that you go from 5% to 1%.

I got this a couple months ago and I think I spend more now. I gotta calm down.

Tbf i use Amazon fresh once a week.

The rest is miscellaneous purchases throughout the month.

My last statement was $750 :damn:

Funny enough, the same thing happened to me :skip: . But I wasn't a prime member before so I was just revelling in the 2 day, next day, and even same day delivery :banderas: . I slowed down and went back to my previous habit of larger orders much less frequently. I really need to try out Amazon fresh though. Matter of fact :patrice: ...

I need to tell my mom to get on this wave because she'll fukk around and order something off Amazon before thinking of going to the store.

Amex BCP is 6% up to 6k a year for groceries. Excludes superstores. (edit: just read upwards to see no annual fee on the custom cash)

I probably mentioned it in the random thoughts thread. $1K CLI on my Quicksilver. It's slowly becoming a card I can rely on in a tight spot. I'll be happy if I can get it up to 5 figures of credit. The cash back feels like shyt but no annual fee is handy.
