You're right that having an older population probably makes it worse. On the other hand, the USA has a more unhealthy population, so younger people are probably more liable to be critical. It's hard to factor in how much the personal culture differences play. There's also the fact that we got a head start so that should be an advantage, and the changing weather might be an advantage too.

That’s not downplaying that’s just stating facts. 800 deaths in Italy in one day. How many of those deaths are from this virus? Are they telling us that? How many of those people died from shyt not even related to this virus? How many of those people died from heart attacks becuz they stressed out over this shyt? How do we even know Italy is telling us the truth about any of this? Not to mention Italy is a shyt hole

It's pure stupidity. The numbers speak for themselves. Every hospital network in the country is going to be over run. NY was at 80% bed capacity a week ago. Nobody has masks or ventilators. The mortality rate is almost moot compared to this knocking out hospital capacity.

Heart attack? Semi serious car accident? Cut yourself badly while cooking? You might die because soon there will be no beds for you at hospitals. That's not counted in the mortality rate but it's directly a result of this shyt.

No ones downplaying it, it's serious. People are overplaying it though by saying there will be millions of deaths and the purge will happen.

Italy isn't the U.S. Look at how many cases vs deaths they are in Germany. Spain and U.S have similar confirmed cases, and Spain's death rate is 4x higher than the U.S. Every country is different.
