Someone made a good point that even though its kind of crazy and may stink a bit because it seems they only got it due to their fame, it makes sense to test basketball players immediately because they are constantly traveling and are in a constant presence of fans and other players. They are traveling spreaders if they are infected. Still crazy that only 50 people can use up half of a day's supply of testing. More an indictment of how our system sucks.

Imagine how much damage they would cause if they weren't tested, games weren't suspended and they were still playing in front of tons of fans and other players.

This doesn’t fly cuz most of them got tested after the NBA suspended the season.

that’s kinda the issue with “just in time” conceptually right? It works until you bottleneck the process. That’s why a good supply chain with visibility to demand will either plan some flex in the schedule OR have safety stock.

hard to do so with something you never encountered before

Yes but there are degrees to this and there are controls on what can be moved due to "efficiency".

You can have just-in-time with safeguards and redundancies.

Controls such as "national security concerns" limit how a process can be engineered.

Like with the financial system these economic structures are choices not accidents. And the driving force behind this has been the mantra that productivity is king.

Another thing about this there is no one to keep us calm. I know Obama wasn't greatest president but imagine Obama addressing the nation during this time .Trump is all over place .Wouldn't be surprise if Mental Hospitals start becoming overcrowded .

We wouldn’t be in this mess if he was still president
