Flattening the curve wasn’t supposed to be a cure just to help keep the healthcare structure from falling apart since we were behind . Things wouldn’t have to be closer forever but we need to be realistic and have a consistent plan and method . The federal government arguing with the states after leaving the responses to t
States then saying fukk it liberate your states is insanity. Trump is willing to let the country burn to stay in power . He can’t be trusted to run a damn lemonade stand

I don’t disagree, but the problem is the president and he will not change. This is why I was so upset before corona. His presidency is going to destroy the US. We are seeing it unfold right before our eyes. Country completely divided at a time where y’all need to be coming together and on the smart page. Sad to see.

These are such useless retorts. Science is just part of the equation, it’s not the entire equation.

I was reading it expecting some kinda thoughtful revelation, but was the typical dumbed down regurgitated babble you read on Facebook memes :francis:

We out here giving students money while the US can’t even give the working public money. :picard:
I moved to the US in '14 so all i've got are student loans and a 1.2k check. :mjcry:

Question tho, not sure if you know, would students who are getting the 2k/mth check also receive this 1.2k :jbhmm:

My guess is the 1.2k are for full time students who didn't qualify for the 2k relief checks. 3.2k/mth would be crazy and spark outrage from our Conservative party lol.

another guy that works from nbc got it he got it thru his eyes while on the flight to NO...he had gloves and masks on :picard:

That's why I laugh when people say "I have gloves and masks"

It's been told on TV since March that the droplets can transfer the virus via your eyes. That guy who worked for nbc is a virologist. I don't know why he didn't have goggles on.

Goggles sold out where I'm at.

But but America is the greatest country in the world

fukk OUTTA HERE!
uk extended their unemployment coverage by four months as well, while republicans are desperately finding ways to open up the country so they won’t have to do the same.

I see all sides of reopening and staying closed. I think the damage is done all around. It's already been clear how dysfunctional this nation is. This incident ripped off the band-aid.

I get needing to reopen. My governor posted a few days ago that the state is losing billions in revenue. Things are so partisan though, that there are people saying that he shouldn't be asking for a bailout from the government. That's where we're at. I get it. We all have our political leanings, but to hate one political party so much, that you're willing to go against your best interests says a lot. And if the federal government isn't going to help out certain states, they're really not going to have a choice but to reopen.

We can be hopeful about a vaccine, but the reality is that by this time next year, there might not be one. We can go years without one as they try to get one that works and is safe. So things do have to reopen, but how much business are these places going to do? I think it'll be mixed. Like my mom loves cruises. She's saying that things need to reopen. She's also not getting on a cruise until there is a vaccine. Some will, and some won't. How many tourists are going to rush back to NYC? Especially international tourists who are watching how things are being handled here. It might be years before things get back to normal, and during that time, if Republicans have the ability to halt things in their tracks, nothing will be done to help people out. This is a time to have a positive legacy. Even if Biden wins in November, and we get a bunch of Republicans out of Congress, there will be another batch just waiting in the cut to strip away any progress made.

i couldnt have really said it better. this notion that people who dont want to open are afraid is buggin me for some reason. i ust see it as taking necessary precaution.

but my theory on some of these states "opening" is its more to appease those who are bytching. some states may never leave the yellow zone. and going forward some states may yo-yo between red yellow and green for the rest of the year.

with all of that said i cant lie ive lost hope in there being proper checks and balances from both side. and ive lost hope about there being any policy effecting your avg citizen to make their life better. but thats just me

I know the reality of the situation is grim. You were fed a simple solution that if it didn't work could easily be blamed on the people that didn't "follow the rules." That solution was never going to work here. The "experts" have a very narrow focus, and within that narrow realm they are not even in agreement on everything in regard to this virus. There are factors beyond that narrow focus, however, and infectious disease experts don't specialize in how to deal with those factors, or even really consider them. That's why the science is sound but the implementation is not feasible. Not in America anyway.

More people are going to die. In multiple seasonal waves over time. And there's nothing anyone can do about that. Eventually this WILL become "just the flu." Or, just another round of COVID, be vigilant folks. You're going to have to normalize tens of thousands of people dying around you from this disease. You can whine, cry, make your typical stupid posts but it's not going to solve anything. And not only will you be dealing with the sickness and deaths you'll be dealing with (at least for some time) these regulations that were supposed to prevent this. Everyone is going to get the worst of both worlds.

You're going to accept this reality or kill yourself. But eventually the echo chamber won't be enough for you. Buckle up.
