After watching the NOVA episode on this and when they talked about the modeling with sever mitigation, light mitigation (This is what I think we are doing now), and no mitigation, I'm willing to accept at this point for the US its a futile effort trying to contain this. We are too fragmented and polarized to ever have the type of national response to get out in front of this.

Also, I've said it several times, but if China is lying about ts numbers to some degree, I still wouldn't be surprised if we had some way of knowing their true number it would still be lower than the United States. In that same episode, they went over what the Chinese are doing when removing restrictions and we would never have anything that severe. They showed that all citizens in Wuhan were forced to download an app and EVERYWHERE they went they had to scan a QR code at the entrance of place to upload where they are and when they were there. Then they get a temperature check. Even before they board a bus they had to scan a QR code on the side of the bus and get a temp check by the bus driver. Of course, everyone is forced to wear a mask. If someone later tested positive, everyone who was in the same area at the same time is alerted immediately and will be denied entry to everywhere by the app when scanning the QR code and must quarantine.

We are America and would never tolerate that level of interference in our lives and so I never expect this to happen in the states. But the reality is a virus does not give a fukk about your political philosophy or style of government and will do its thing regardless.

Show me the numbers of asymptomatic people having issues, most asymptomatic people aren't getting tested so how can we truly tell the affects :patrice:

And no where in that post did I say the asymptomatic people were perfectly fine

I come in peace.

This too from today

Bundesliga stars warned catching coronavirus may cause 'irreversible' lung damage that could end careers by top German sports doctor ahead of league's return to action this weekend
  • Bundesliga is first major league in Europe to return amid coronavirus pandemic
  • Players have been warned about dangers of catching the virus by a top doctor
  • A German professor claims coronavirus could cause career-ending lung damage
  • The DFL have put strict safety guidelines in place ahead of weekend's matches
  • Here’s how to help people impacted by Covid-19
'There is a risk that top athletes may lose their level of performance and never regain it,' Bloch told AFP.

'Generally, the physical makeup, immune system and cardiovascular system of elite athletes means that the risk to them is low.

'However, we do not know at this time whether even minor infections, or even mild symptoms, do not cause damage, such as minor scarring of the lungs after an inflammation.

'This damage may be irreversible, or may last a very long time before the body repairs it.

Wahrscheinlich 2 Spieler, 1 Mitarbeiter infiziert. Rest trainiert weiter.

New 100 percent Accurate (no false positives, 'specificity' of 99.8 2/1000 false negatives) COVID-19 Antibody Test Approved for Use in U.K.

A new COVID-19 antibody test to tell whether someone has had the virus has been approved for use in the U.K. after being found to be 100 percent accurate (no false positives, 'specificity' of 99.8 2/1000 false negatives) .

The test, developed by Swiss pharmaceutical company Roache, has been under evaluation by Public Health England at the Porton Down facility and was found to be highly specific and accurate.

The idea of an antibody test with 100 percent accuracy was previously labeled by Prime Minister Boris Johnson as a "game-changer" as it would allow the government to understand how many people had COVID-19 and if they had developed immunity.

It could also help speed up the easing of lockdown restrictions, allowing people to return to work if they were confident they would not get the virus again.

Johnson said in March: "The great thing about having a test to see whether you've had it, is suddenly a green light goes on above your head and you can go back to work safe and confident in the knowledge that you are most unlikely to get it again.

"So, for an economic point of view, from a social point of view, it really could be a game-changer."

Junior health minister Edward Argar says he is keen to get the tests to key workers first.

This pandemic has given all competitors the blueprint for defeating America. If this isn't already a biological attack.

Use your enemies strength and turn it to a weakness:

American strength - Size of our nation.
Weakness - That size makes it impossible to regulate and mandate.

American strength - Democracy - happier populace, feeling of being free.
Weakness - To many hands in the pot to effectively make decisions. Countries not as free as America can make needed decisions without delay.

Strength - Hyper- capitalist, allowing access to a high standard of living if you go get it.
Weakness - As this pandemic show, money over everything, even life.

i couldnt have really said it better. this notion that people who dont want to open are afraid is buggin me for some reason. i ust see it as taking necessary precaution.

but my theory on some of these states "opening" is its more to appease those who are bytching. some states may never leave the yellow zone. and going forward some states may yo-yo between red yellow and green for the rest of the year.

with all of that said i cant lie ive lost hope in there being proper checks and balances from both side. and ive lost hope about there being any policy effecting your avg citizen to make their life better. but thats just me

Call me crazy and maybe I'm giving them too much credit. I think seeing those cacs with their guns at state capitals scared some people. They're the fragile ones that you have to have concern about.

So Maryland just had the goofiest reopening. Basically the Governor got pressured into this nonsense. Where everything is opened half capacity.
