the crazy part to the bolded is. this si really a wide open layup for everyone in govt to have a postive legacy cemented. They could say hey we have to get together for the better of the nation. we have to give them compensation so things dont go to hell here. lets just say 2k a month or 85% of salary something i dont have specfics. we can cut back on military spending during this time because this is a global issue and we would remain mostly ahead of the curve with military tech.

and/or

upon reopening. We have testing and PPE available for everyone and protocol to allow people into public places and businesses.
we compensate a few hotels per major metro area to use their facilities for quarantining those who are positive.

I truly dont see why they feel this isnt the right thing to do. just to cover their own ass. we used to have a country where when it came to crisis' partisanship wasnt TOO MUCH of an issue.

as of right now there, IMO, is damage already done. these people who have lost their jobs and businesses arent going to magically have a job or new business upon reopening. its scary because at some point i haveto worry about my job. so we will see. but the major reason i think we are fukked is because as you said we are too divided and have absolutely zero leadership (there are leaders there but its not their time yet). when did so many people lose empathy for others is a question i have had to ask on many of occasions since 3-4 novembers ago. but even more so since march

Incompetence, lack of leadership, morally bankrupt, financial gain. That's the only way I can think why they're not doing the right thing.

its crazy because what will financial gain do if you have people dying and people afraid/cant spend money at your place of business. idk breh so much needs addressed and this is just raising the curtain on all of that. its really up to us if we want to take it serious or not(surely you and alot of the brehs in this thread are regardless if i agree with them or not). but i dont think the masses are willing to fight for the change.

I see all sides of reopening and staying closed. I think the damage is done all around. It's already been clear how dysfunctional this nation is. This incident ripped off the band-aid.

I get needing to reopen. My governor posted a few days ago that the state is losing billions in revenue. Things are so partisan though, that there are people saying that he shouldn't be asking for a bailout from the government. That's where we're at. I get it. We all have our political leanings, but to hate one political party so much, that you're willing to go against your best interests says a lot. And if the federal government isn't going to help out certain states, they're really not going to have a choice but to reopen.

We can be hopeful about a vaccine, but the reality is that by this time next year, there might not be one. We can go years without one as they try to get one that works and is safe. So things do have to reopen, but how much business are these places going to do? I think it'll be mixed. Like my mom loves cruises. She's saying that things need to reopen. She's also not getting on a cruise until there is a vaccine. Some will, and some won't. How many tourists are going to rush back to NYC? Especially international tourists who are watching how things are being handled here. It might be years before things get back to normal, and during that time, if Republicans have the ability to halt things in their tracks, nothing will be done to help people out. This is a time to have a positive legacy. Even if Biden wins in November, and we get a bunch of Republicans out of Congress, there will be another batch just waiting in the cut to strip away any progress made.

Y'all still living in denial. It's going to be a stressful several months for many of you. Once you accept the fact that you're going to have to face this head on like you would the cold, flu or any other infectious disease you'll be able to get your life back, your sanity back. You all are about two weeks behind me though. :mjlol:

The perfect solution isn't coming. Life is going on though and it will pass you by. But the Coronavirus won't. If you stay in your house until 2030 you'll likely get the virus three times. It's here to stay. You can't run. You can't hide. This is nature. Science.

You're very likely going to get it in the upcoming months. You will have family members impacted as well. Some MIGHT die. That's the new normal. Living with seasonal COVID like we do with the Common Cold and the flu is the new normal. It's the only realistic, long term option. Train your brains. Or, move to Australia, New Zealand or one of the small Asian countries where they have a society and system that is better able to control COVID. But if you're going to live in a western nation, prepare to stock up on Tylenol COVID and Flu, extra strength from now on. We'll get through this though, I promise.

yeah, I’ll go ahead and listen to what the doctors, scientists and experts are saying :unimpressed:

Why the fukk are you leaving your fate up to government, an incompetent one at that? You can’t talk all over your face about flattening curves an then switch to finding a cure when a cure is 2-3 years away? There won’t be a vaccine this year, that is just stupid talk. Also, who is to say that vaccine even works? You have to live with this damn thing so ramp up testing, get PPEs, contact tracing, etc and open up the states that are ready.

My friends and family should be allowed to make their own decisions. You’d be surprised how many people would want to be in control of their own demise Rather than someone else. Why is that so hard to understand?
Flattening the curve wasn’t supposed to be a cure just to help keep the healthcare structure from falling apart since we were behind . Things wouldn’t have to be closer forever but we need to be realistic and have a consistent plan and method . The federal government arguing with the states after leaving the responses to t
States then saying fukk it liberate your states is insanity. Trump is willing to let the country burn to stay in power . He can’t be trusted to run a damn lemonade stand
