Is hydroxychloroquine an antiviral?

I should add that the discussions I have heard say it is way more effective when used early - way before ICU stage, so yes it might be of some use.

I'd presume so I remember when I had to take malaria drugs I started taking them a week before I even went on the plane

No peer review. Again. :unimpressed:

I’m tired of Information changing by the hour
:unimpressed:

Anything that hasn't been peer reviewed, feel free to ignore. It's not information meant for the public and it's not meant to be used as a basis for treatment, etc.

Sites are posting literally anything COVID-19 related for clicks.

PA seems to have started its climb. They are at 200+ today already :francis:. I have a feeling this is going to be a trend for a while. Every state is eventually going to be a hot spot or get their time to get the worst of it so to speak.

In good news, the numbers are dropping significantly for NY

h-to-the "peer review" -ex strikes again :wow:

People have posted two separate non-peer reviewed articles today alone. I've mentioned this probably, 5 other times.

I don't get why people can't read the links they post. Non-peer reviewed articles literally say they aren't for the public, or meant to be used as a basis for anything other than further research.

It's mind bogging man. And part of the reason this thread has turned into shyt.

Yeah, there are a lot of dynamics at play here I don't think people usually have to worry about

You have scientists and even doctors who want to be the first to maybe be the head of breakthroughs and what not. Not downing the possible treatment of Hydroxych...whatever but the reason it sort of "meme'd" itself into the online sphere is through the social media campaign of some French doctor who didn't really follow standard study protocols.

Then as always, you have the media that not only wants the first scoop but given budget cuts with a lot of news organizations, their science reporting in particular long before this has always been poor. You also have the unique situation where a lot of the journalists have been focused on the political nature of news for so long that when they are dealing with science they either don't ask the right questions in a science context or know how to parse the information received correctly.

Then you have pharmaceutical companies that of course want to make money and you see what are essentially PR campaigns for certain drugs like that Remdesiver.

All sorts of traps and shyt you have to watch out for with this right now.

:gucci: What's the point of an at-home test if it's not a rapid test & it costs $119?

If this country was serious about testing, they should send a test to everyone FOR FREE.99!
