to further on this, makes sense why studies show certain blood types are more affected, and why a lot of italians have died, not just because of age but also because a lot of mediterranean’s have blood issues (anemia, sickle cell) and could explain also why a lot of black people are dying in states that are higher percentage of white

not sure but Drs are definitely sharing what they feel is really odd aboit this virus, trading notes, experiences, what has worked, hasn’t etc

Cameron Kyle seems to be given information to others in terms of intubation, and i’m sure others are amongst colleagues or other drs on social media

Got word that one of my coworkers died from Covid this evening.

He has been on a ventilator for about 10 days and they didnt test him until he was so bad he needed intubation. He was in the hospital for about a week before that.

Update: Coworkers are gathering for a vigil.

I think the concepts being shared in that back and forth on twitter and some of what he’s saying here could be potentially the best news so far in this thread. Hopefully more blind trials are done in the next 30-60 days

If Covid-19 is primarily an haematological disease and the lung failure is a secondary complication but until now we were overlooking that aspect, it might allow for a paradigm shift/breakthrough in how we treat mild/severe cases, preventing them from becoming critical (on a vent).

a breakthrough in treatment plus widely available antibody test would change the game after this first wave. Unfortunately the US is gonna have to just take this 1st wave on the chin because we were far too inconsistent with our social distancing. April is gonna be a tough month.
