Yall thought this was gonna be THEE studio. Like always yall get hyped about microsoft saying they gonna do some shyt and take that sharp pivot then yall looking like

juelz-talking.gif

…trying to explain how it was part of the plan all along. This is yet another cycle of L’s yall are gonna spend the next 8 years explaining away. Yall gassed this studio up to be on the level of Santa Monica or Naughty Dog and Crystal Dynamics has never made a game as good as either of those two studios.

This will be another throw away perfect dark game. Microsoft has been dogshyt at managing its best IP’s not named halo, Forza, gears and even halo and gears have been dogshyt

Sea of Thieves shows that this is patently false.

Next to no company would stuck with it long enough to make it a hit. This would have been thrown in the MAG, Socom, Warhawk and Starhawk pile.

Minecraft shows that this is patently false. Most people thought that Microsoft pissed away 2 billion when they purchased it. The reality is that that purchase was highway robbery.

We've already seen the nurturing and shared collaboration with the acquisitions. Have you seen the new digs of inXile or ninja theory? Ninja Theory has a world class motion capture facility now.

This is for Hellblade 1. Buying shyt from ikea and Amazon while using their conference room.

This is for Hellblade 2

Microsoft is giving everyone every tool that they can possibly use.

You say that like if it's bad to buy a studio who has had success. Should they have bought housemarque? Do you still play returnal?

Sony did buy insomniac right? Naughty dog?
Aren't those the only studios you REALLY care about from Sony? Yes, there's literally another 1 or 2 you care for SOMETIMES :hubie:

Instead of buying studios and helping them make better games how about they pay for timed exclusives instead.. Something they did during the 360 era and you guys had a problem with that :laff:

But when Sony does it (Deathloop) you acted like you won. The game had a spark but now it's considered ok. So you don't mention it no more :ld: but the point is y'all don't really care about the shyt you're crying over unless it's Microsoft doing it. So all you're saying here is you're upset/frustrated by how the future is shaping :pachaha:

Just as long as you see it tho :win:

I don’t think this would be a good purchase :ld:

Yeah, brehs need to chill with this victory lap shyt until it actually happens, and it actually bears fruit. They're coming off of a string of Very Okay games.

Like, they're not bad, they're just........okay. If anything, they're Microsoft would be buying very low, since their last project managed to be a 2020 GaaS game that came out with with 2014 GaaS game problems. I mean, Destiny is RIGHT. THERE. Showing you what you shouldn't do, but ya still did it.

Ultimately, I think someone should buy Crystal Dynamics, because the longer they stay under the Square umbrella, the more likely it is they get clapped.

But the cycle of "Microsoft about to buy another one :whoo:" every time one of these rumors pops up is getting a tad bit old. Until a game comes out and is something good, there's really nothing to brag about.

so is this real or not??? :ld:

I would say it's probably in the exploratory/investigation phase, at best.

People are just taking two separate events to mean a little more than they actually might at this time.

Square is still looking for ways to recoup losses from Avengers, and assuming that Sony hasn't paid anything for the Spider-Man exclusivity since it's so far behind, GamePass was a quick cash injection.

Also, considering that Avengers didn't do as well as planned, Square probably doesn't have Crystal Dynamics working on a whole lot besides continued Avengers support. Loaning them out to Microsoft keeps the studio busy, and has them generating extra revenue on paper, helping them offset losses from initial and continued Avengers development.

Microsoft is likely trying to talk to Square about the possibility of at least making them second party, pending the work they do on Perfect Dark being good, and the game itself being successful. Problem is that Square seems to have some form of dedication to Avengers (which makes sense, considering what Disney probably hit them for on the license), and Disney will happily double dip on hitting Microsoft to either keep the license, or exit the agreement early.
