Could a top NYC rapper bring that old NYC/East Coast sound back like Kendrick did or are niccas too gone riverdancing to UK/90's sample drill beats?

What do u mean here?

What makes LA and the Bay any more self sufficient than us

Cash Cobain is much more popping than any of them artist on Kendrick’s album :mjtf:

I hate when NY posters be on this self deprecating shyt and dikk sucking other regions :dahell:

We have our own shyt as much as anyone.
Who is y'all's Kendrick?
Lol most the young NY rappers are more popping than the artist on K-Dot’s album
They're more popping in NY. how do you know whether they're more popping then the dudes on the album in Cali?

LA/The Bay/Cali have their own modernized sound and its not G Funk

NY has it's own modernized sound and it's not boom bap but they DO sample classics frequently, that boom bap shyt is never coming back outside of niche circles tho u oldheads are gonna just have to accept it

Also the biggest appeal of the west coast sound compared to how yall WANT new york to sound like is the tempo, the beats make u wanna dance and it's some shyt u can play at a function, nobodys playing griselda at a function

No. NY Rappers don’t really support their own that much compared to the west and south.
Does the current NY rap scene have cats that are regional, but can sustain themselves career wise while staying local?

California has a lot of bay area and LA artists that aren't really big but have local support and can do shows throughout California.

It's interesting thought because growing up as an outsider I thought NY rappers got along for the most part and it wasn't until I seen Lord Jamar on MEO saying a lot of crews didn't fukk with each other like that.

Somebody knows somebody in somebodies crew. Beef inevitable. We are so close in proximity shyt is bound to clash.

Cali is a whole coast with different sounds mixed within

I feel like east coast/boom bap sound is too hard to remake in a modern way. It feels like a sound that only needs to be remastered.

Its kind of like in video games they got remakes and remasters. For me east coast sound just has to be remastered, I don't know how to explain it, but remake would be unnecessary and take some of the grittiness away imo.

Is the drumless sound, modern east coast?

Boom bap has had a renaissance in the last 10+ years. The problem is y'all don't want to accept that won't be mainstream again like it was in the 90s

As a person from NY, nobody cares about Boom Bap like that. It's just not appealing music anymore to the majority. :manny:

They would have to come up with something new that incorporates the old too, but I doubt that will happen cause NY nikkas just love dikriding the south and midwest.
west coast was always more mainstream and sold more than boom bap
