And while we're at it, lets ban violent sports like football... an activity where kids are rewarded for hitting AN ACTUAL PERSON as hard as they can, as opposed to a pixelated image of a person that is completely non-existent.

I believe Society has no impact on the mentally ill. If your brain makes you think humans are just like insects and you can't tell the difference or you have problems feeling something. Games/Movies/whatever will not influence you.

I suggest people read up on serial killers from the early 90's/80's/70's. You will hear things about how they use to cut open animals etc before moving onto humans.

I never said we should ban all violent video games, I said that games like GTA that encourage mindless/dark kinds of violence need to be addressed. Games that encourage the player to kill innocent people in sick and twisted ways aren't needed in a society where mass murder is becoming the norm, period. If we are going to go after guns, then we have to go after other things that are contributing to this flawed culture.

Why is blood, gore, and guts absolutely necessary to have fun in a video game? I'm sorry, but I don't get it.

I'm not sure banning them is the right idea or will solve the problem. I think they're the symptoms rather than the causes. We do have a terrible relationship with violence as a society.

i've been playing 3d grand theft auto games since i was 11 years old, doing some of the most gta style killin you can do
i'd try to beat the story but once it got to hard, i got distracted, saw a car i liked, etc...i gotta get my kill on

never have i committed a serious offense, barely have tickets, and i came from the fukkin hood were crime is higher then these cacs who are killin people via the masses. part of it is good parent, learning what common sense and the value of life, and the other is realizing the difference between a video game character dying and a fukking baby...this aint about video games, its about the crazy and the not so crazy/functionally crazy and of course us normal people

People with mental illness that is undiagnosed/untreated will fall victim to anything stimulating: violent games and films, "reality TV", drugs, alcohol, porn

For the rest of us its merely an outlet to temporarily experience what we know is socially reprehensible :ahh:

The fact that people think this is a "gun control" issue or a "violent media" issue is :snoop:

People are ashamed of being depressed and socially unwell because of the stigma. Our society labels them as weak and inferior for having those issues. Treatment is expensive AND humiliating, but they need help and care. They bottle their shyt up and become alienated as a result

Games like GTA where its nothing but sick and mindless violence without a purpose need to be curbed if not banned outright.

Blood and gore within a scope of reason is OK but the way some of these games just cater towards the bloodlust that a lot of these losers who play videogames seem to have is disturbing.

:aicmon: Posters like @GetInTheTruck posting mindless posts need to be curbed, if not banned out right

Republicans probably gonna start going at Tarantino this time around.. Was listening to Michael Savage yesterday on the radio and the guy (along with his retarded callers) were criticizing him and his movies for being violent.. while at the same time he praised Saving Private Ryan and said it should be excluded from discussions about movie violence because it's a historical war flick.

I got the feeling their real problem with Tarantino is that he's made a movie revolving around slavery where a black character goes around shooting "evil" white slave owners.

So ban all the modern warfares because it teaches people to shoot? Ban GTA because you can go around and kill people? Ban assassins creed because you assassinate people and steal from people? Now at what about the ratings on the video games to prevent kids from buying them, yet their parents buy them for their kids. A friend of mine bought Resident Evil 5 for his 3 year old... read that again.... HE BOUGHT RESIDENT EVIL 5 FOR HIS fukkING 3 YEAR OLD! I told him he's an idiot and his kid doesn't need to be playing that game so I guess according to you if his kid grows up and kills people it's the video games fault and not his parents?

Yeah but then at the same time if we use that logic we can't really say anything to pro-gun advocates who use the same reasoning - "I've had guns all my life and never killed anyone"

I agree that its deeper than guns, video games, etc. But I think the question we need to start asking is why our society has become so obsessed with violence to the point where we are comfortable with it. Even with all these little kids dead, by new years nobody will be thinking about it....till the next massacre....then well just act surprised and outraged again, and nothing will change.

:stopitslime: 3D Polygons aren't the reason a psychotic killer has grabbed a gun and gone to town on a school. Games like GTA have a big fat 18 sticker on them if you're kids, cousins and young'uns are playing them then that's your problem not the game developers and not no one else.

It ain't the violent games and moves. Not entirely. Sane adult people can readily distinguish between play/recreation/pretend and REAL LIFE.

It's
1. the lax gun control and
2. the paucity of insane asylums.

***In addition to*** drugging the nutcases, ya gotta look 'em away from sane society.
