I know right?! Why the fukk are we paying them to teach our children in the first fukking place? Why should they have health insurance?

Yup, you hit the nail on the head there, Trip! Detroit and NYC are two sides of the same coin!

:salute:

yeah man free health insurance for all public employees for life! Who cares about sustainability! Bend over for the TU private sector!

the pension system just made the situation in detroit worse, its part of the social safety net that it could not afford, but detroit didint even have money for streetlights

I'm confused on how the word "unsustainable" has morphed into a "republican talking point."

make broad generalizing statements, brehs

I mean sure, there are great teachers but nothing I mentioned isn't true. I'm just basing it off my experience. did you go to public school?

the one teacher I had got caught with porn on his computer and was banging one of his students. What was his punishment? he got transferred to another school district 30 miles away. this shyt doesn't fly at any other job.

Black politicians have 2 options. Sellout, or dont be in politics. As long as black people depend on white guilt and charity for education and inclusion black people will go nowhere.

anecdotal evidence is conclusive to indict any regimen

I've gone to more schools than the average person, public and private.
Probably 20-30 schools before I graduated high school. I moved a lot..

The education I got in the public schools that I went to were just as good as the private schools.

:manny:

So what you believe is that there are more bad teachers than good teachers?
You're kidding yourself if you think your experience is some typical thing. Anecdotal but in all of the schools I went to private and public I never experienced that. Anyways I'm sure the same thing happens and could happen in a charter school. Sadly any position where adults come in contact with children today this is the reality. Education is really the only outlet where you're going to be banging a pupil, that I can think of...

I don't believe there are more bad than good ones. But I can't really recall a bunch of teachers that I was like, "yeah that guy was a really good teacher!"

and my anecdote was to point out how the teachers union protects the bad teachers.

anyways I don't even know what we're discussing anymore. My point was that the article in the OP immediately paints Booker as some right-wing lunatic because he supports vouchers and I just don't understand why people stand up so much for our public education system when it's not good.

bad people are protected everywhere in all walks of life...

The education system is what it is, we're probably lucky honestly, and I already explained why.
It's the teachers that make the difference, remember that.
