The ethnic makeup of Japan is like 98% native Japanese. There effectively aren't any black people there. Would you expect a population that for the most part has never seen a black person to feature them in their media?

(Generalization) Japanese are very xenophobic and close minded. Even other Asians aren't really accepted there. (Even though Chinese are literally their Fathers ) Believe there are even some that despise whites.
