:hhh: they need to change that law
nah, thats just not the purpose of Urgent Cares. if you made it like that, then they would cease to exist. they arent built for people coming in with coronavirus

ive been there twice, theres nothing urgent about them

an urgent care isn’t an emergency room

If the kid would’ve went to the ER he would’ve been treated and probably wouldn’t have been billed he’s too young to even enter contracts

While we’re doing hypotheticals trying to lay the blame why wasn’t he on his parents insurance and where were they?

If someone has a problem that urgent care can fix, they shouldn't be able to deny it based on someone's insurance status. I'm not asking urgent cares to become trauma surgery wards they should just be forced to fix the problems they can solve, if they are life-threatening/emergency.

I don't support Medicare for all, an australian-style public-private partnership is the best solution. I just find it morally abhorrent that anyone is turned away for medical care because of not having insurance, and the article said he was turned away for not having insurance. This whole situation just proves that our healthcare system is a complete clusterfukk. No need to build a strawman to feel like a big man.

I think you're the one building the strawman. :francis:

they’re all I use unless I need a specialist. The biggest thing I would go to one is for an x-ray.

two weeks ago one of the largest networks emailed us and suggested we go a hospital if we have serious symptoms

This isn’t rocket science

:why:

they’re not going to take something on like this liability wise, as I already pointed out he’s too young to even enter into a contract

It’s not the kids fault but these are underlying realities of our society

I agree, I don't blame the kid or the urgent care, I'm saying we need to change our society. The urgent care acted in its best interests by (allegedly )denying care to someone without insurance

In the article it says he received medical treatment.

Sounds like breh got hit bad by the virus. Said he was healthy on Friday and wasn't here a week later.

Article said the doctors couldn't save him. :francis:
how? I'm going off the literal article that was posted in this thread?
From the article posted in this thread:

However, Los Angeles’ County Department of Public Health later said the teen’s death was taken off a list of deaths associated with Covid-19 in the area. The department said the CDC would complete an investigation into the teen’s death. It remained unclear what symptoms he may have been experiencing prior to his death.

Looks like it wasn't coronavirus related. Sounds like breh had a heart condition.

If he had insurance maybe this condition would have been diagnosed earlier.

The headline is sensational, but nothing in it suggests he died because he wasn't treated at the urgent care facility, which has been my point all along.
