On the subject of how people have responded to the pandemic,

I get in a Lyft yesterday, older woman, probably 45, not unattractive, Filipina, I think, and she says "how are you doing with all this mask stuff"? I said something like I'm going out, but responsibly as I directed by the county.

She says "yeah, this all feels like Nazi Germany to me, communism, socialism..." I didn't respond, and she then launched into complaining about her boyfriend, and lightweight hitting on me, before showing me pictures of her (very attractive) daughter in a skimpy outfit for work. Little weird.

Point being, totally random population sample, someone driving a maybe 5 year old Benz, that assumedly functions socially at some level, is saying stuff like the bolded, without provocation.

What kills me is the European Union with 400 million people has reduced their numbers to ~4000K and we are about to blow past 30,000K.

Shameful shyt.

Conservative movements have done an effective job of destroying people’s faith in government and the idea of self self sacrifice for the greater good.

It’s quite clear to me that Americans of today would not have been able to help win WW2, build the interstate system or send a man to the moon.
Sad but true. When do you feel the peak of america was and when did the decline begin?

As far as modern history, I would say 1945-1975 was the peak for governance.

The stagflation Of the mid 70s coupled with the recession during Carter Administration gave rise to movement conservative and gave teeth to the beginning of undermining effective governance in the U.S.

The most consequential presidencies of the 20th century were FDR and Reagan. The country went one way with FDR and the opposite way with Reagan.

The virus is unlikely to mutate but what worries me if a second wave that coincide with flu season. Last couple of flu seasons was really bad. This would create a nightmare scenario for hospitals. I pray this doesn’t happen.
