Unfortunately, many retail stores and restaurants will go out of business in 2020 even if their states allow them to open by conforming to new social distancing guidelines. Restaurants already make money on very slim margins. Imagine taking the time to reorganize your restaurant to make sure each table is now 6 ft apart and you can only have 20%-30% of normal occupancy. In a way, each small business is being set up to fail because you still are paying the exact same rent you were pre-pandemic. No way this works out for many businesses. A combination of social distancing and the majority of people not going to these institutions will hurt these businesses. This is why if things re-open the federal government should fully support these small business for the remainder of the crisis.

Even if we don't officiall "shut down" that is going to give people a lot of pause.Unfortunately, many retail stores and restaurants will go out of business in 2020 even if their states allow them to open by conforming to new social distancing guidelines.
