Either this is a super megatron virus or these scientists/specialists don't know anything about it

"You don't need masks" - "Nevermind you do need masks"
"It can't be transmitted passed 6ft" - "Nevermind it can be passed just by breathing particles in the air"
"You cannot be reinfected" - "Nevermind we have cases of reinfection"
"You have to quarantine for 14 days" - "Nevermind it takes longer than 14 days"
"It only lasts on surafces for 9 hours" - "Nevermind it can last on surfaces for days"
"Heat will kill it" - "Nevermind it survives high heat"

I am tired of all this. At this point if I get it, then I get it. :yeshrug:

Whats happening here is a rush in the scientific method. Usually scientists have years to conduct studies and only make declarations once something has been proven or disproven over and over again. Here you have immense government and media pressure to give updates on a daily basis. They dont have time to prove or disprove anything before someone is pressing them for an answer. Thats not how the scientific method is supposed to work. Combine that with the fact there is money to be made here, and its a recipe for misinformation.

In other words, just stay in the house.

This is hands down one of the best posts in the history of this site, and underscores the problem with that stickied thread at the top of TLR.

We're in basically uncharted territory here so people are figuring things out daily. Or even hourly. The problem is you have people posting literally every Tweet, interview, or news story, 24/7 in that thread, as soon as they appear. Some of which haven't even been confirmed, like the string of non-peer reviewed articles that had people believing COVID-19 will make people sterile. Two weeks later....crickets. Nobody ever mentioned it again.

Take that example....multiply it by about 200 pages....and that's most of that thread. I'm not saying the thread is completely useless....there's a lot of good info in it....but it doesn't need to be updated with every piece of info, as soon as it appears on the internet. A few years from now I guarantee people will re-read that thread like :dahell: because a gang of info will have been disproved.

Fred.

People probably think I'm not taking this seriously but I really, really do. I'm a truck driver. I've been coast to coast as an "essential" and we're trying to do it right. Trying to take it all in. But the interactions I see daily, this is NOT the sort of social distancing that contains the virus. We are too big, too divided and too dependent on large swaths of the economy for this to be effective. We can half ass it like we've been doing but in the end all sides of the debate will feel hopeless. But I'm prepared for how things will go and if it turns out better than I'll take it. And in the meantime I will laugh at scatterbrained messaging because it's really the only comedy I encounter these days and hell, I love a good dark comedy.

So this virus is immune to heat, cold, lava, comets, asteroids, the vacuum of space but no match for 20 seconds of soap.

Like Tardigrades can stand outer space, volcanoes, not eating for 10 years etc and yet a hammer or acid would finish one ....

Exactly.

You can have a n95 mask, but if you walk through a mist thats hanging in the air, it'll still get into your eyes.

This needs to be kept in mind, while figuring out how to reopen the country..

Just throw some used pads on your face and you're good to go. I'm rocking some Dr. Scholl's shoe inserts and half a bra cup I bought from this chick. Gotta stay safe. fukk it, mask on.

IT is FEAR...nothing else.

There most definitely is something real floating around. More than likely not what they're claiming what it is although they know what it really is and yeah, they're exploiting peoples fears and doing whatever they want.

Coronavirus is going to be the dysentery of the 21st Century; went from dying in a puddle of poop to breathing your last in a puddle of pus. :wow:

Who knows, there's already a gastrointestinal invasion the virus does at times, may as well just upgrade it and say COVID now causes dysentery in 22% of mild or asymptomatic cases with another 86% being diagnosed with scurvy, scabies and rickets.

May not work as great for us here due to our reliance on conditioned air. Our first world lifestyles are possibly contributing to our rate more than we know.

We’re sitting inside breathing recycled air.

And having food other items delivered around the clock which is probably breaking the entire point of social distancing and isolation.

When these nikkas started doing studies talking about the virus last longer cause of men’s testicles thats when I knew not to even pay attention to none of this bullshyt no more. Lol.

I think that's one of the non-peer reviewed studies I was talking about man.

No peer review = it's not even meant for the public to see. Or meant to be used as a basis for treatment, etc.

It's basically a glorified theory until more testing can be done. Which typically takes a month, if not longer.

And cats in that thread were posting them back to back, on some "look, new info!" :snoop:
