The problem is Al decided to switch gears and go from black advocacy to Obama apologist. Don't agree with the language, but we all know by now the only color is green in America. @Washington_Red

I have no issues with anyone who wants to criticize Obama or Sharpton or whoever, but Cornel West knows better. His job is to eloquent and instead he sounds more like Tea Party member Alan West than professor Cornel West.

#4 The average Black person is proud of Obama for cracking a color barrier even if they dont agree with his policies. West stands outside of this consensus and instead chooses to undermine his brother using derogatory racial language that has no place in civilized debate coming from someone steeped in academia.

Total bullshyt. Cornel West has enumerated exactly what Obama has done wrong as a president and as a human being. The use of terms like "House Negro" is necessary and accurate. What else do you call someone who acts like dropping bombs on thousands of civilians ain't no thang, that failing to prosecute Wall Street criminality ain't no thang, etc.? You people are despicable. Just because someone has brown skin does not make them worthy of your respect, and Cornel West has been perfectly consistent in his criticisms of American presidents. Just google what he had to say about Bush when he was in office.

that's the biggest difference. LOTS OF TALK from all minority leaders, very little action. It seams the mode of activism now comes via words alone. I'm not going to pretend to know what MLK would be thinking but something tells me there were people like AL and West in his camps when he was alive, only they were't the prominent ones.
.

How disingenuous. There's no need to pretend to know what MLK would be thinking. Just read his speech against the Vietnam War and there should be no doubt in your mind that he wouldn't even deign to shake hands with Obama at this stage.

That purple bullshyt is nice for national elections but it gets you sent home early in a Republican primary where the diehard right wing nuts carry the day. So in Ryder for Christie to secure the nomination he is going to have to convincingly pivot to the right which I don't see him being very good at.
I am still not convinced he even gets the nomination or even wins many of the primaries.

He is going to eat those teabaggers for breakfast. He is the only one with governing experience and shows he can work with both sides and still keep his core conservative beliefs. The republican party is going to do a swift pivot to the center right in 2016 getting a lot of independents to vote for them. I could be wrong but I think 2016 is the year of the center right politician

Edit: but your right the primaries are going to be more tough then the general election for him
Shockingly Christie would do better in a National Election then a primary. None of them team party fools have a hope of that.

But you think an old shrewd bytch with a husband that was impeached is going to look better to the American people? Chris Christie has done a good job of making his image as a purple politician that can work with both sides and has a track record of governing. He isn't that much of an under dog breh

Her husband is the most popular living ex-President by FAR.

If it comes down to her and Christie, Clinton takes it, but I'm not even sure he'll make it that far. The Tea Party types will primary him or force him to go way far right. I actually think Clinton vs. Rand Paul is more likely.

I think that all people are equal of the same respect regardless of job title or skin color which is why I have a problem with West's approach. Cornel isn't coming from a place of giving respect to get respect. He comes across like a scorned lover who will say anything regardless of intellectual merit as long as it wounds the person who aggrieved him. The logic of his message gets easily lost in the emotional and ignorant delivery. He's a professor, not a rapper. I've had realistic expectations for Obama and didnt expect him to be a magic negro. As president I knew he'd be dropping bombs and slurping off Wall Street. For those of you who didn't what country have yall been living in all your lives? If you dont know you should crack a book or ask someone.

Personally, I don't live in a world where Black people are broken down into sub-categories as dictated by the ghosts of slave masters. I define my identity, not the past. Being Black in America is difficult enough without other Black people with limited world views trying to hold your humanity hostage in the bondage of history. Throw the entire house negro/ field negro analogy in the bushes where it belongs. Cornell is no Malcolm X and he certainly is no field negro. Criticize the president all you want, just keep it real. If you don't like the foreign policy of the United States or the social inequity try looking at your neighbors and family members who enable and quietly endorse all of the evils that West is trying to pin on one person. We're all complicit in this equally with our tax dollars and indifference.

So. Cal
:heh: yes they will
Okay that statement swayed me. Your right Clinton will beat all dems in the primary even though we don't have a clue who she will be running against. She will also beat anyone she faces in the general election by a landslide. What could ho wrong. Its her turn right. She deserves the presidency now. We shouldn't even hold elections since we already know she's going to win anyway.

That is why the Repubs are doomed to never see the White House again until they can get a trip on the shortsighted nut jobs in their party.

Uncertain grounds
i think christie has a good chance of knocking off any dem (even hillary). i think after 8 years of dem presidency and a trend of more and more people turning blue, i think the right will use sound logic and focus on electability in the general election during their primary season. remember, many repubs felt romney was most electable and was one of the major reasons why he got the nomination
