:mjcry: Apparently that song belongs to Q and it's not Conway's to do anything with.

I'll try to find this article/interview for you. Conway said they recorded Fork in the Pot and Kilo in the Trunk on the same day. Fork was given to him and Kilo was given to Q.

damn well that makes sense actually...now its own Q to drop that fire :wow:

Kilo in the Trunk beat is FIRE. Break The Bank was a classic Alchemist gave him. They def should do a project together.

What'd you think about So Much More?

IMO those 4 songs are honestly 4 of the best in his entire catalogue.

There are actually a few spots in this album that may need to grow on me (the Sigel verse, the Novel hook, Drumwork, and Babas) but those 4 best songs on here are legit a perfect example of why I fell in love with hip-hop to begin with.

If Anderson .Paak had stayed on Wild Chapters instead of Novel and T.I. had been replaced with another Conway verse in the same vein of the first verse, I'd throw that in there as an arguable top 10 song of Con's career too. There's a video somewhere on YouTube where you can hear Anderson .Paak's part on Wild Chapters but I'm not sure where it is.

Paak on that song would have been dope but i like the version we ended up with

Since when did clearing samples become such a problem for record labels? Didn’t Kanye West have hits for years using samples? Doesn’t nearly every album from the golden era have multiple cleared samples throughout every album?
Samples cost money. This wasn’t a problem in the 90s or early 00s when albums were selling at high rates but with lower sales now, many labels have pulled budgets back. In Conway’a case this is an album that might not sell 20,000 in its first week. Why would the label over spend for that. It’s why I said from the jump that signing was a bad move.

@TheDarceKnight While Shady is definitely an oddly run label I don’t buy anyone telling Conway that. Can I imagine him having an early convo about samples and being told “we’ll talk about it later” or some other vague shyt? Sure. But Shady and Interscope tend to have a lot of industry people involved in the process. They would know about heavy sampling before the album was turned in.

Personally I think a lot of producers assumed the bag was being passed around since it’s Shady/Interscope, gave Conway a bunch of expensive (sample wise) beats, and now the carpet is being pulled from under their feet.

Speaking about Conway x WSG x Q shyt... let's not forget about "Need My Bread".:wow:
Sheeeit. I'm trying my best to forget about that one because at this point. It was so old that Instagram hadn't even started allowing videos to play for more than 15 seconds, right? It's gotta be like 6+ years old by now, and I'm just assuming we ain't getting that one.

I couldn't agree more. Also, they have the creative control to have more raw sounding records like you said, but lack of full freedom to pursue samples. One of the songs here had to have a piano sample removed, and another had to have a vocal sample removed.

That being said it's not too bad, and there are actually some legit samples on here that didn't need to have live replays or interpolations.

This is definitely the best sounding Griselda x Shady release.
I still yet have to fully listen and I’ll post what I think tonight after I go through it. What songs are the samples removed from?
