There's a few problems now.

Back then record sales generated enough money to warrant it. In the streaming era, albums don't really make any money. Albums are basically promotional vehicles to sell merch and to advertise for touring.

Back when people used to buy physical CDs, millions of dollars were made on hip-hop album sales alone. That's not the case now at all. The budgets simply aren't there to warrant it. Not only that, but many of the artists on major labels these days don't use very many samples. A lot of popular beats today are trap beats that don't use samples.

A final factor that may make it seem weird is you must be thinking, "but all of these indie releases have samples on them, so if they can have them...why can't major label albums have samples?"

Good question...the not-so-secret secret is that 90% of the samples you hear on independent hip-hop releases aren't cleared at all. Most of the music we bump is vulnerable to cease and desist letters. It's a big reason why purists hate WhoSampled and the Alternate Intro craze.

Crazy times, imagine telling this shyt to Prince when he made Purple Rain or Michael Jackson and Thriller. Probably both would've dropped dead on the spot

I gotta stop playing Stressed. shyt reminds me of 10 minutes by Budden or any other venting "song" of his. Can't think of too many songs like this. And that outro is perfect.
