I probably would have flipped flopped Different World and Martin myself.

I'm glad they showed loved to The Boondocks but I never really considered that show to be sitcom.

Actually a pretty decent list, but :pacspit: at Complex's website layout and shyt. I'll never got to their site

A different world had a lotta kids in the East Coast checking out HBCU's back in the early 90's my little brother ended up going to Howard because of that show. I would put Martin at #2 as well. If you look back at all the careers that show made and also by virtue that a show with one guy playing multiple characters in that format was so viable. Martin was one the last shows to be #1 watched in it's timeslot, in fact Martin and Living Single and NY undercover made Thursday night a legit night for comedies and it was supposed to be the graveyard.

My top 5 would have been

1. Cosby Show
2. Martin
3. Sanford and Son
4. Good Times
5. Fresh Prince

I agree with most you said but :wtf: @ the bolded.
I'm not claiming to be some programming expert but from what I understand Thursday night prime time had always been a legit time slot and when a lot of networks put their best sitcoms on.

It was in the 80's but by the 90's it was in kind of a lull. Martin kinda jump started it back, well that whole bloc really.

surprised by all the My Wife and Kids fans. it was solid the first two seasons but once they turned Jr. retarded and introduced that annoying little kid it became corny as hell.

and The Steve Urkel Show aka Family Matters has probably aged the worst out of all the "classic" black sitcoms. I can watch repeats of Fresh Prince and Martin and still :heh: When I watch old Family Matters eps I think :what: how did I find this funny when I was a little kid?

Girlfriends is a pretty slept on show. It's not a laugh out loud funny type of sitcom but it def. had some of the best writing/acting of all the black sitcoms. Joan's character is the type of black woman you rarely see on TV(awkward, neurotic as opposed to tough/confident)

Martin and Sanford and Son should be above A Different World. I honestly think that show is overrated. People rank it high because somewhere around season 4 they switched the show to a serious college life/social commentary type show and people want to give them extra credit for that. In fact thats when i kinda stopped watching. Then when Sinbad left that final season i didnt watch at all. Good Time should be higher than A Different World too.

Really they disrespecting Sanford and Son. I dont know anyone who dont fukk with Fred G. I bet at one point in time Lamont couldnt walk the streets without a nikka thinking about stealing on him.
