Yes, that's true, but letting voters completely off the hook is a cop out. They are far more to blame than the established political and moneyed interests.

People being ignorant of what the fukk they're doing and who they're voting for is not a valid excuse.

Why not just shrug our shoulders at red state voters if that's the case?
I feel most voters generally vote from an ignorant position, including most of us in HL. Think about the discourse on this forum. How much is it about societal issues that need to be repaired and discussion solutions, and how much of it is just regurgitated cable news infotainment, “pundit brain” nonsense?

Nah you either live in a bubble or your definition of “white collar professional” as inaccurately far too broad.

First you just said “professional” now it’s “white collar professional,” but either way you’re wrong. The majority of “white collar professionals” retire early as possible.
Pro tip: when you’re trying to make a point - fixating on word choice instead of the greater point just makes you seem tedious or obtuse. We are in a conversation about a generation that won’t step down, it is a conversation that necessarily involves power - why would you come in here and waste everyone’s time trying to nail down a specific definition when the clear point is obvious to everyone? What you’re doing contributes nothing to the conversation and is a red herring. I wasn’t about to do a deep dive into all the reasons the entire workforce doesn’t retire when they should. You know what we are talking about.

Not really. I just saw you make a comment that wasn’t true and pointed it out then you doubled down. The “focus” on word choice is relevant because how we’re defining “professional” seems to be the issue of contention.

It’s kinda wild to say all white collar professionals and or professionals or whoever don’t want to retire, when in actuality it’s the opposite—professionals tend to retire before most other people.

So I stand by my original statement that it’s only people in professions that offer the wielding of power like Feinstein that don’t want to leave.

How do you come to this conclusion and what quantifies as "early as possible"?
Been in the “professional” workforce for 15+ years and I’ve never seen anyone in upper management NOT take that early retirement package as soon as they could.

Which is why I would contend that it’s generally only those professions where people get to wield power and get addicted to it where they don’t want to retire. The Senate would be maybe the most extreme example of that…the SCOTUS too.

I seen the exact opposite in the financial/banking/brokerage industry (20+ years), most people in middle management on up, are coasting on their comfortable six figure salaries as long as they possibly can. There is an oversaturation of management representation where their value add to the strategic vision and company goals is to attend countless meetings daily and manage the delegation of tasks - this is where I will be personally by end of year,1Q 2023 at the latest. These people aren't leaving these positions early so I'd say from our collective anecdotal experience, it depends on the industry but neither is more true than the other.

Part of the reason why Democratic leadership is older is because Democratic politicians and voters generally "trust" the establishment and politicians with "experience" more than Republicans.

However, 3 out of the top 5 oldest senators are Republicans (Grassley, Shelby, Inhofe).
