:whoo: Why didn't nobody mention that Samples hired DeSoto's former Head Coach & OC Todd Peterman to be Duncanville's OC this season?:

Y'all think that will make a difference?

Speaking of which, what is Dallas Skyline H.S.' excuse for not being good? They're 1 of the biggest schools in the state with over 4K students in a fertile talent area & with them being a Magnet school they could literally recruit kids all over district as long as their in a magnet program.

@shopthatwrecks

Coaching & lack of facilities.

Samples was getting all them boys that were staying in Oak Cliff to come about 30 minutes East to play for him while he was at Skyline.

The ceiling at Duncanville has been much higher for him because they don’t have to travel that far anymore, they’re right there in his backyard now. Duncanville also has MUCH better facilities than Skyline.

@satam55 Also forgot to add another reasoning. Demographics.

Yea, Skyline has a large population, but most of the population are Hispanics. It’s located in a largely Hispanic area. Duncanville, it’s MUCH closer to even between black kids & Hispanic kids.

OK a couple questions:

1. What is SOC is doing different that other Dallas ISD schools with similar fertile demographics can't seem to replicate?

2. Why does Duncanville's players look physically superior to their neighboring South Dallas County suburb schools with similar fertile demographics (i.e. DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Lancaster, Grand Prairie)?

I assume Samples either gotta be getting kids outside of Duncanville ISD or that Duncanville's Strength & Conditioning program is superior to everyone else.

It's because of the region of the city they are in. It's all subjective. For instance SOC won state last year but that hasn't even been done by a DISD before them since '58..

The talent in that part of dallas is spread out between SOC, Duncanville, Desoto, Lancaster, & also add in Carter & Kimball. Right now SOC is having their run BUT all the aforementioned school had their time. When I was in HS it was all about Carter & Kimball.

The complete opposite is a school like Allen that has won 4 state titles in the last 9 years, but there is only ONE school in allen and they dress like 90 kids a week on Varsity and maybe only 30 of them play per week, schools like Southlake Carroll have been dominant for a long time.

Smaller districts in more condensed areas tend to do better than the bigger districts where there are more kids.

SOC has a really good staff. They’ve done a good job rebuilding their program from the 6th/7th grade level up. New facilities/campus helps too.

Duncanville is getting kids from everywhere now. Even out of state. Samples attracts talent and great talent wants to play with other great talent.

While SOC is a DISD school, they’re still right there located by Duncanville, Desoto, Cedar Hill, Lancaster, etc. The SOC HC was a former Samples’ assistant. He’s just doing what Samples has taught him for a long time. Lancaster’s HC is also a former Samples’ assistant. Watch for them to make a lot of noise in the near future as well. What hurt Skyline was them just being too far for the Oak Cliff kids. Switch the location of SOC & Skyline & Skyline would be in SOC’s spot right now.

Open enrollment & recruitment. Duncanville’s men & women’s basketball teams are also national powerhouses which brings a lot of exposure & added bonus to the school as well to give you that “city of champions” aura.

Do y'all consider Skyline H.S. located in Pleasant Grove OR East Dallas? I've always considered Skyline located in Pleasant Grove because Skyline is located south of I-30.
