Colibrehs you've been made NBA commissioner with the task of fixing the NBA. You are guaranteed a 4 year contract to do so. What would you change?

I can see why the owners never wanted less game because it meant less gate revenue. Now the Tv money pays for everything and then some

the players want to paid for 82 games but not play 82 games. Smh

Fans don’t think NBA players play hard or take the game serious. Un guaranteeing contracts would help this. Ben Simmons should’ve been cut years ago
Why do we keep blaming the players for this when its the front office that mandates the load management

It doesn’t matter if the players are pushing for load management or the coaches/front offices are pushing for load management, it’s a serious issue regardless. The more I think about it, I think the negative feelings from fans/media about the NBA can be traced back mostly to load management. It’s insulting to the fans intelligence and their wallets that they’re being told that {insert star player making $300+ Million} won’t be playing tonight, not because of injury, but because he’s “tired”, or he played the night before. This to me is a bigger issue than style of play, or tournament games. Ticket prices are insane, and you’re basically spitting in the fans faces when you tell them that the stars that they paid to see won’t be playing, when they damn well could have under normal circumstances. It’s just a terrible look for the league, and it makes the fans not want to waste any more time or dollars towards that product.

A lot of black people are in the NBA so I'll never be in favor of non guaranteed contracts (even tho I don't have or will have kids in the future I just want to see y'all seeds get paid). I'd rather people just be mad than to have them get less money when it's not even something the owners care about
The black people in the nba wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire

Load management is the source of the feeling around the nba

“ramping up” is the new load management btw

They’re getting 9 figure contracts because

A) Players get 50% of all revenue and the NBA is making more money than ever. In other words, the league can afford it

B) There’s only 15 roster spots per team unlike football where you’re paying 53+ players per team so there’s more money to go around

C) Unlike baseball there’s a minimum amount that each team has to spend so you don’t have teams like the A’s or Pirates who punt seasons every year simply because they don’t want to spend money to bring in or retain good players

D) Max contracts have allowed some middle class to get bigger deals but let’s keep in mind that the max system is something owners created and pushed for bc they were scared of how much they would have to pay the Shaq’s & Duncan’s of the world
I understand why it happens but Tobias Harris has earned 270 million in his career and not a single ticked was purchased to watch him hoop

It’s a dumb system. Why do NBA owners want to overpay 100% replaceable players

Bring back hand checking. Allow cutters to be bumped. Let physical play back into the game. Send that soft p*ssy brand of basketball back to Europe and let people defend again.

180 of that 270 million was Philly giving him that ridiculous deal. To this day I have no idea what they thought the upside was

Hand checking is a crutch no need to bring that back. All hand checking does is handicap the more athletic player. Use footwork and angles
Hand checking didn't impact athletic players. Guys like Jordan, Pippen, Ron Harper, Dominique Wilkins, Shawn Kemp, etc were not bothered by that shyt.

It would actually benefit the current game by forcing guys to toughen up. Right now the product is soft as shyt.

Soft is subjective honestly. People equate hard non basketball play fouls as toughness when its the opposite imo. Basketball is a contact sport physical play will always play a role

Guaranteed contracts DONE, you get paid for the games you play unless it’s a legit injury.no more “load management”
now watch these hoe ass players all of a sudden play 78-82. 250 k fine for floppin ,habitual floppers 500k then 750k

Push the 3 point line back 3 feet and stop all those wakk ticky tak fouls let teams play defense like fiba does

Get rid of that trash cup tournament too

And if you demand a trade while under contract. Your shyt voided then you can sign wherever you want after you forfeit millions for being a hoe

Why should someone have to give up their physical advantage for someone else to be able to use theirs? That's where team D and rotations come into play

:manny:
The cream of the crop always found a way to beat it anyways. I want the physicality and rhythm byke.

This is an article from August 9, 2003.

Excerpt:

Thanks be to the football gods that the NFL does not become the NBA! There is a reason why the National Football League is America's No. 1 sport by every measure -- attendance, ratings, merchandising -- as the once-hot NBA continues its downward slip-slide in popularity. The reason is the decline of NBA play, which every season seems to become more simplified, less coordinated and more immature. Every year the NBA becomes less mature by about one tree-ring. During the Magic-Bird-MJ Golden Age, it was a sport of mental 30-year-olds, then 29-year-olds, then 28-year-olds and so on. Currently the NBA is a sport of mental 19-year-olds.

If the NFL turned into the NBA, there would be no plays on offense; 11 guys would just run around doing whatever they felt like, calling for the ball. Each person who actually got the ball would immediately throw a 60-yard pass, then turn to the officials to scream for a foul. Players would refuse to speak to each other, and cover their ears when coaches spoke. Players would put tattoos on their helmets. Fans would start leaving while the game was still on the line, as the home fans did Sunday night in the Meadowlands. With a minute remaining and the Nets down three, there were already hundreds of empty seats throughout Continental Airlines Arena, while those moving up the aisles to exit blocked the view of those staying for the quaint reason of finding out who wins. Home fans streaming out in the final minute of a close championship game. Ye gods. You've got to have a pretty troubled sport to achieve that. Welcome to the NBA.

But don't take my word for it, take the people's plebiscite. NBA attendance is down, while NFL attendance sets a new record almost annually. NBA ratings have fallen almost 45 percent in the past decade, while NFL ratings remain tops in sports and have been rising mildly in recent years. For a decade the quality of the NBA product has been going downhill. The NBA's attitude is that fans are too stupid to notice. But fans know about the decline and are paying steadily less attention. Please, oh football gods, don't let this spread to the NFL!

You guys have always shytted on the NBA and look to the past with rose tinted glasses.

NBA HIT ITS PEAK
IN THE EARLY 2010S...

IM NOT SURE WHY YALL
KEEP POSTING shyt FROM
THE EARLY 2000S AS A GOTCHA MOMENT.

JUST 10 YEARS AGO
THE GAME WAS LIGHT YEARS BETTER
THAN WHAT WE HAVE NOW.

OFFENSE WAS DIVERSE
AND DEFENSE WAS STILL
ALLOWED.

IT WAS A GREAT BALANCE
