I think some of y'all just wanna be stuck on stupid or something.

Cable is dying, TV ratings are down for all types of entertainment because of that. Why do y'all think pointing out the decline in TV ratings means anything, when there's more accurate measurements of NBA viewership which shows there's only been an increase in popularity, and not a decline?

Rekindle the relationship with the ncaa and make the players play 4 full years in college. This move will benefit everyone involved ( ncaa basketball, nba, the players ) and will build the brand of the players drafted by the nba because it will give them more cultural revelance and visibility, and following from college sports fans. NFL is popular because college fans watch the product to support their favorite players in college. Alabama fans supporting Jalen hurts on the eagles, lsu fans supporting Joe burrow on the bengals etc. Making the nba accessible and relatable for most people is a must. If we make the right moves to make the following of the nba easier and more convenient, this league will be finally a permanent part of the American cultural fabric.

I don’t know what to do with the g-league though.

Copy the nfl : Reform and modify the playoff system by eliminating the 8th seed from the playoff picture and giving the 1st seed an automatic bye to the 2nd round. Keep the wildcard play-in game for the 7th and 8th teams-team tt wins gets the 7th seed and makes the postseason, the other is eliminated and done for the year. Eliminate the play-in game for the 9th/10th seeded teams- teams ranked that low in the standings shouldn’t get another opportunity to redeem themselves again and get a second chance to make the playoffs. It will give massive incentive for teams to finish first in their conference and the playoff races for the 6th/7th/8th seeds will be intense and exciting. Everyone will challenge and play harder.

Disincentive tanking.

Keep the current CBA.

NBA teams should make their presence felt in their local markets. They should Build their brand in their own areas, donate to local charities, support youth groups, families, etc, be culturally involved with their local fans, and connect with their cities, football and baseball teams have have great presence locally because of these efforts and moves.

More emphasis on division rivalries, teams should play more games against teams in their own division.

Understand the regular season ain’t taken seriously because too many teams can make the playoffs right now

Raise the value of the product and respect the regular season. Respect regular season accomplishments like team records, win numbers, mvp titles, division titles, conference finals. Enough of this championship ring or nothing mentality. Let’s appreciate and savor meaningful achievements outside winning the nba championship. And winning the conference finals and the East/west should be more respected than it currently is. Winning 3 straight playoff series is tough. Advancing to the nba finals is tough. But the ringz discourse dismisses this.

Protect the image and reputation of the nba at all costs. NBA Media members should never openly bash and trash the product and the league at will. You never see nfl, mlb, nhl media openly bashing their product and questioning the purpose of their leagues on live television.

Less gossip/sensationalist hot takes, and more discussions about the sport and the game itself. Rehabilitation of NBA history and tradition. Make the product and games accessible on public free television so that everyone can watch. Fukk local market blackouts and cable like Bally sports. Give the focus back to the teams and not the players. TMZ/reality TV ball should be over. What happens off the court is not important, we only care about the action on the court. And the off-season should never overshadow the actual regular season and postseason.

NBA jersey fukkery should stop.

Stop catering to fickle casuals, bird brain females and superficial hypebeasts who don’t care about the sport of basketball because they don’t have the knowledge and passion for it.

Force the nfl to back off of Christmas Day.

Starte the season in December and end it in July. That way the league won’t compete with the nfl for 2-3 months.

schedule an nba final game on the fourth of July. Make it official. Make it an annual tradition.

If you're not interested in the NBA, then why are you still posting about it? If TheColi isn't interested about, why are they still posting about it?

I'm not interested in wrestling like I once was, that's why I don't post about it. I don't go up in that subforum reminding everyone how I don't think wrestling isn't what it used to be.

When are you going to give up posting about it given you're no longer interested in it?

- Hire & retrain refs how to properly officiate.
- Move the 3 point line back to its original spot.
- Properly develop players. A 7 footer who can barely shoot free throws have no business shooting 3’s he should be working on his post moves.
- Get rid of small ball. Nobody wants to see a 6’5 PJ Tucker playing center.
- Punish healthy players for sitting out games.
- Bring back the enforcers.
- Hire professional dunkers for the dunk contest.
- Create an incentive where the conference that wins the all star game gets home court advantage in the playoffs.
- Stop allowing players(ie. Lebron) to make front office decisions. If they’re not working in the front office they should have no say over important team decisions.

What measurements are you referring to?

NATIONAL VIEWERSHIP INCREASES ACROSS MLB TV PARTNERS

Double Digit Growth in 18-34 Audience Achieved by ESPN, FS1 and MLB Network

MLB.TV SETS NEW RECORD FOR STREAMING MINUTES WATCHED

28 Most-Watched Games on MLB.TV Have Occurred Since New Rules Were Instituted
Mets Postseason Clincher Ranks as Fifth Most-Watched Game in MLB.TV History

The really interesting thing is that NBA viewership is becoming more international.

The 2024 NBA Regular Season is the most viewed season across social and digital platforms, surpassing 1 billion video views in Europe. 70% of the views come from the league’s accounts in Europe, where European players are among the 10 most-viewed.

Previously US interest drove international interest. Will be interesting to see if interest waning here eventually affects International interest. I would imagine the league doesn't care as long as the money keeps rolling in.

I have no idea what this means
1. Remove the corner 3. That would make it easier to defend
2. Fix the CBA. This new CBA is a failure. Dynasties work in the NBA. Now you are punishing franchises who drafted well and signed key pieces to win championships and rewarding the owners who are cheap and have no interest in building a championship core. Damn shame that this new CBA has caused the Nuggets to kill their championship window with prime Joker
3. Heavily fine these players who sit out games due to rest. It's to the point now where it is embarrasing. The NBA is losing middle America. Middle America mentality is to show up to work no matter if you're in pain or sick. That's why the NFL is king.
4. Market the young stars better. Lebron, KD and Seph era is over.
5. Enough of these 3 minute reviews on who the ball went off of. Man I would just do a jump ball every time that happens.
6. Elimiate the forearm when driving to the basket. Jayson Tatum should get at least 2 offensive fouls a game
I agree with this, unnecessary reviews and they go on for too long. They should only care about this stuff late in the fourth

I’m getting rid of load management by giving players a set amount of “PTO” like 10 a year like most employers. If they miss more games then they are fined injured or not. They make too much money to be bytching about fines.

I’m adding a bigger financial incentive to win the 3pt and dunk contests. And the winner of the all star game gets home court advantage in the finals. Meaning if the west wins whichever team makes the finals gets an home court advantage. I would also reward the mvp financially

When refs blow obvious calls they are not allowed to ref the next game and is fined.

Stop catering so much to the rich uptight fans and let players be themselves without fines for dumb shyt like saying pause.

Make it a requirement for owners to pay for stadiums out of their pockets and make it mandatory for teams to upgrade or rebuild every 20 years.

The first change would be to widen the court. Players are way too quick and long and it hurts the post game because of how easy it is to cheat off your man and get back with the current court dimensions. It'll also force defenses to make tougher decisions if they had further to go to help on a driver and still have to close on a further 3 point line. It would also help weed out hopefully some of the bad 3 point shooters who keep taking them.

On top of that I would like them to allow handchecking. Keep the freedom of movement rules but allow the on ball handchecking. I hate that we have eliminated the tough on ball physical defenders that had value even if they couldn't shoot worth a damn. Since on ball defense isn't as much of a factor we see way more offense only players out there which is a big part of the increased scoring in my opinion.

In the past I was all for players entering the league at any age. Now that players can get NIL money I would prefer players needing to be 3 years out of high school before stepping on the NBA court. Give players the option of going NCAA, overseas, or G-League. I was going to say I wouldn't actually mind if teams could draft these players early but that would be a nightmare with NBA clubs wanting to control the playing time certain players get or trying to dictate what school they go to.

To go along with the age restriction I would shorten the amount of games per season. I know the NBA wouldn't want to give up the thrill of players chasing all time records but it is clearly way too long of a season. They are packing too many games in too short of a process. Players bodies are doing way more cutting and changing directions than ever and need more rest to put the best product out on the floor. The majority of the money is coming from TV deals now. Take a hit on the additional revenue extra games generate. TV money shouldn't be hurt too bad as long as you give up as you can still provide the same amount of games for national TV.

- 1 thru 16 playoff structure
- NBA Cup Stipulations (Choice of Automatic #6 Seed or the ability to choose another team’s first round matchup
- 1 v 1 added to the All Star Game
- More primetime matchups for upcoming superstars
- If a team shoots less than 35% from 3 any 3s made within a quarter are devalued to 2 at the end of the quarter (still work shopping this)
