Los Ingobernables de Sala de Cine
The Paperboy, the movie Lee Daniels' did between Precious and The Butler. It's a deep southern thriller set in the 60s about a reporter's investigation of a big murder case in his home town (surprisingly non-race related). Matthew McConaughey is the reporter, Zac Efron plays his younger brother who becomes infatuated with the white skanky fiancee of the murder suspect (Nicole Kidman).
It's sleazy and dirty, both in atmosphere and thematics, and there's no character to cheer for, they're all as unglamorous as they come, to the point it is at times hard to connect to the whole ordeal. Which at the least explains why it's gotten such polarizing reactions from critics and audiences alike.
And like the messy atmosphere, the movie itself is also all over the place. It makes for an interesting watch, not necessarily a good one (!), but I'd recommend it if you got an open mind and can appreciate a movie that is not trying to entertain you.
