Watched it recently to get ready for Alien Romulus. I'm sure I saw it or parts of it as a kid, but didn't really remember in detail. Not saying anything new that it's great. I knew it had a more action focus going in compared to Alien being more horrorfocused, and the final stretch of the movie is such a thrill ride and really cements why Ripley has remained so iconic all of these years later.

Aliens is the fukking goat. Best movie of all time.

Bullet in the Head - John Woo

Last act is pretty melodramatic and kind of lost me but the first acts are peak Woo and crazy intense. Going to rewatch Hard Boiled tonight

Watched on Peacock. From the creative team of the Happy Death Day series, I liked those films more but you can see the DNA between them and this film. Still a fun, horror comedy. Some nice kills. Especially Vince Vaughn with the teenage girl mannerisms.

Dark City 1998

I watched the director's cut of this movie. I thought the movie was good not great. Maybe I'm missing something. The setting was good. The ending doesn't hold up imo.

I'm probably just let down because Dark City gets talked about like its better than The Matrix, and it got its ideas stolen. Dark CIty was released 1 year earlier, and I don't think that's enough time to make The Matrix. I do believe both films were inspired by a common source material. I read someone say the rooftop chase scene in The Matrix was stolen from Dark City. Both scenes were inspired by the chase scene at the beginning of Vertigo.

just watched this again recently. Great movie. I really don't like directors cuts of movies though, I'm always good with the theatrical version of movies.

Dark City and the first Matrix do have a similar premise as far as questioning reality, and of course the dark atmosphere. Both are excellent movies tho, but a lot of peeps either missed Dark City or slept on it

Boring, unoriginal story, uninteresting characters. All they do is cry. More crying than Emmy Rossum on Shameless. I actually liked the first movie. This was so bad it made me wonder how the hell did Lion King 2 get shat on but this gets a pass. Lion King 2 is wayyyyyyy better than The Way of Water.
