Bullet in the Head - John Woo

Last act is pretty melodramatic and kind of lost me but the first acts are peak Woo and crazy intense. Going to rewatch Hard Boiled tonight

Good flick. But just isn't cinematic like the Rocky movies. The final fight has some good action but just isn't emotional and seems rushed. Even when Creed knocks Conlan down at the last second the announcers don't even seem in the moment, like they are commentating on a different fight. Just some nitpick but it's too blatant not to miss.

Even though Larry Clark is better known for his damn near pornographic drama films featuring young actors/actresses constantly in the nude, I don't think anyone could have taken this story and done it justice like he did. If he weren't such a polarizing figure in the movie making community, this might have had more exposure at Cannes or some other cac festival, the performances were so good. RIP Brand Renfro.​

this movie should be essential watch for all brehs in Africa before they make that trip over the Sahara and the Sea to Europe.....this is movie was a gut punch not only because it shows the terrible journey but also cause you know alotta people going through this shyt right now....... 8/10 should easily have won best foreign oscar but of course they gave it to the holocaust movie

Watched it via MGM+ last night. Did not expect the framing device of how time moved throughout the film, but thought it worked well with weaving the relationship tale between the 3 leads and it kept me locked in to how exactly things would play out. Especially in the climax of the film.

This is an underrated action movie, it flopped because it was too similar to Speed. But it was tense like Die Hard 3

Watched it recently to get ready for Alien Romulus. I'm sure I saw it or parts of it as a kid, but didn't really remember in detail. Not saying anything new that it's great. I knew it had a more action focus going in compared to Alien being more horrorfocused, and the final stretch of the movie is such a thrill ride and really cements why Ripley has remained so iconic all of these years later.

interesting first time, independent movie. based on a real conman in detroit. some rough supporting acting but otherwise good craft for a first time director. black film today is really missing this kind of art. unfortunately, this breh didnt go on to do much of anything else after this.

the tagline "I think, therefore, I scam." is great. it has some social commentary on race and class but i dont think those themes are as well developed as they could be in that regard.

blu ray is from a 4k print. very high quality visuals.
