I saw this.... dull as dirt. I didnt see any "hidden meaning", i couldnt be bothered to look for any "hidden meaning" or "hidden layers".
Watched on HBO Max last night. Lot's of hype for this and I knew the basic premise, but the story went in some unexpected ways . Nice mixture of comedy and sadness, looked up some of the themes I might have missed after watching. Knew the sister character looked familiar, didn't realize Mike's daughter-in-law for BB/BCS is Irish (Kerry Condon) .
Nominated for best picture, best director, best screenplay, best supporting actor, best supporting actress and best actor.I saw this.... dull as dirt. I didnt see any "hidden meaning", i couldnt be bothered to look for any "hidden meaning" or "hidden layers".

Don't have Friends brehs. You tell your friend you need a job and after months of slogging their bs, they can only get you a internship. As a graphic designer, anything you make is their IP. So not only are you working for free, you're producing content for free.
Live-action Daria is on fire right now. This was an enjoyable watch overall for a directorial debut. Some plot-holes here and there and the third act was a bit rushed, but the movie remained grounded for the most part after having several opportunities of jumping the shark completely. Could tell the director is a fan of Michael Mann with some of the shots here, and the tension in most of the scenes made it come across like a diet version of Uncut Gems, lol.
Gina Gershon aging like fine wine for a white woman. Too bad her character was a POS. Bound sequel when though?
”He robbed me before I could rob him!”
Had my boy Shades from Luke Cage acting like a wimp in this.
I’m impressed with this script doing what it did without the usage of gunplay. Emily is someone you come to learn isn’t really a victim of consequence, but rather someone finally embracing who she really is. Playing by the rules in this dog-eat-dog world can get someone, like Emily and even Youssef, stepped on. There are some shades of Walter White in her character with her “breaking bad” and it made for a compelling watch.
Aubrey putting that Rosetta Stone to use at the end.
This movie was quite something, lol.
