Crazy part, I didn't even vote yes. I just voted it was immoral.
Listen, as many know I'm centre-left on social issues However, I consider myself a Progressive on economics However, with this flag burning thing I think some type of criminal penalty should happen. Yeah, I know that it's protected as freedom of speech, but that's just too far In my opinion, I'm all for protesting unjust laws. I continue to do it all the time. With pushing prison/criminal justice reform and ending income inequality I just always felt that flag-burning is regressive. That's just my opinion. It solves nothing and is non-productive.
What do you guys think? I differ on this issue because I had family in the military. Yeah, the U.S. has been involved in over-throwing Democratic-elected leaders and i'm AGAINST THAT. I'd rather the U.S. be isolated from war in other countries. ESPECIALLY, the middle-east. My view is, that war should be the LAST resort. However, my ancestors and other groups helped build this country off of their backs.
Tell me what you think.
I never said prosecuted I said criminal penalty. Meaning, a fine and etc. I've been an advocate for equal rights, prison reform, justice reform, and ending income inequality. Some thing I'll admit are or . However, I post how I really feel on issues. Now, I'm not gonna condone flag burning. For one, I think it's regressive and serve no purpose. Only thing it will do is piss of vets and victims whose loved ones died.I get a real vibe whenever someone thinks you should be criminally prosecuted for burning a piece of fabric.
Why do people equate the national anthem and flag burning with vets? This shyt seriously makes no sense to me and not all vets take offense to these things you sounding really right wing today to be honest.I never said prosecuted I said criminal penalty. You want me to sound far-left. A right-winger would recommend those people be sent to GitMo. Vets who served in Vietnam and maybe the Korean war would take extreme offense. Everyone doesn't think like you or myself. I'm for equal rights, justice/criminal reform, income inequality, and etc for Black Folk. However, I will always feel that this serves no purpose. Also, I think that Americans can be hypocritical. That I will admit to.Why do people equate the national anthem and flag burning with vets? I know not everyone thinks like me believe me lol in fact most dont in general. But i dont like how people equate the flag with vets it nothing imo that actually directly connects the two it just makes no sense to me. Lets say it serves no purpose which I disagree with because it helps bring attention to social issues alot of people namely white people like to ignore. I still think you should be able to do it and no criminal penalty should be associated just because some are offended its bullshyt and im already sick of people buying into this authoritarian shyt Trump is pushing we are entering dangerous times. You want me to sound far-left. I respect your view on that breh. Like I said, some things we will agree on like justice reform and serious issues. Then, we may have some issues that we will differ on. Thanks for the dialogue breh. TBH, I like debating with people who differ in views. Because it makes for good dialog.I know not everyone thinks like me believe me lol in fact most dont in general. Lol the military bases all over the globe is giving you the freedom to express yourself? I see you drank the kool-aid. The United States military is not protecting anyone's freedom. The military is a tool used to dominate and control certain regions of the world.Freedom to say and do what you want as long as it doesn't hurt others. You won't get that in the Middle-East or other countries like China or North Korea. We have a lot of room for improvement, but don't act like you have zero freedom.
I've explained that, but they do defend your freedom. I don't drink anyone's kool-aid. However, I'm not gonna tell you a lie. Sorry, I'm not the pandering type.Lol the military bases all over the globe is giving you the freedom to express yourself? I see you drank the kool-aid. Good perspective brehNo. Absolutely not. The government should not punish anyone for burning a flag. However, if I own a flag and someone burns my flag, that's destruction of property and a whole nother issue. But if somebody buys a flag, they should be allowed to burn it if they want.
