The ironic thing about this whole flag burning nonsense are the people who have suffered the most under the America flag (Black People and Native Americans) don't even burn the flag. Not even the most militant Black Panther, FOI, etc does it or if they did it's usually a very small minority. It's usually the white hippie middle class cacs that do it.

also, I see you keep saying by "punishment" you mean a fine and not jail. who determines what the fine is? who determines what "minimum" is? and what happens if I don't pay the fine? what happens if I keep burning the flag and keep getting fines? do they just pile up? what if I can't afford the fine? slippery slope. when someone parks "illegally" they get a ticket...and if they don't pay it or keep getting them, eventually a warrant is issued...which means JAIL.

P.S. I'm AGAINST the oppression that's happened to Native Americans and Black/Afro-Americans in this country. Plus, I HATE that congress and the senate has a 90+ white male majority. I want minorities to fight and get elected in those positions. EVERYONE deserves a voice.

No. Absolutely not. The government should not punish anyone for burning a flag. However, if I own a flag and someone burns my flag, that's destruction of property and a whole nother issue. But if somebody buys a flag, they should be allowed to burn it if they want.
