The left has been shytting on Cuomo long before COVID or the #metoo shyt ever hit :stopitslime:

Why is 'the Left' always your go to catch all straw man. You have no idea what the fukk you're talking about but you are 100% convinced by right wing framing of the world.

God forbid people discuss their differences :picard:

We should all be aghast at this, clutch our pearls, be quiet and be happy with whatever the power players decide for us.
Discuss away. Lol but nothing has been accomplished in this thread, beyond people patting themselves on the back over their ability to body a conversation and silly ad hominem insults.

I have joined in these discussions before and never have I noticed this rancor. Folks actually seem to genuine dislike each other now. There isn't any respectful discussion.

The only constant is @the cac mamba's trolling

Regardless, discussion is productive even if the bare minimum gleaned from it is a gauge of other peoples opinions.

you're aware they were paying hospitals extra for covid patients, right? i dont think you wanna go down this road

Breh, every argument you give that would make blue states more likely to overcount than red states is destroying any chance you have of explaining why red states have far more fatalities. Think it through!

If you really don't like hospital data, then just ignore the official counts and look up excess deaths instead. The pure # of excess deaths during Covid is WAY up, over 40% higher than can be explained by official Covid deaths alone, and the excess deaths are by far the worst in red states.

If hospitals and officials are overcounting Covid deaths like you suggest, then why are the #'s of excess deaths the last two years even worse than the official Covid deaths? And why are red states hit the worst in that respect?

I see three things.

1. The 2020 election was the 3rd time in 15 years where the primary was divisive. All three races had actors with bad behavior on both sides, one side perhaps had more people doing too much. The crucial difference in 2020 was that it was the first time where the entire support base of a Democratic candidate was incessantly slandered with generalized ad hominins and insults. Of course this had been done to Trump's support base in 2016, which was much more justified (likely still a mistake). But to do it to fellows on the left fighting for much of the same things for this country? And to do it not based on their own behavior, and not based on the attitudes and positions of their preferred candidate, but to slur the entire support base including fellow posters here because of what random strangers on social media had done? That ramped up the intensity of division.

2. Posting has gotten lazier. Trolling and insults are more common across the board, you see people fail to engage with the meat of a thread from the get-go and instead use damn near any issue as a way to just attack the people they don't like. Getting personal for a moment I think the Russian invasion of Ukraine was one example of this. From the beginning I've been resolutely pro-Ukraine, early on was one of the more active posters, pushed for the strongest anti-Russian sanctions and condemnations possible, and was so aggressively countering pro-Russian disinformation that all of TLR thinks I'm nothing more than a biased Zelensky apologist. And yet here in HL there is a certain group of posters who feel the most meaningful way they can engage with me on war issues is by trolling and insulting me and repeatedly suggesting that I'm pro-Russia and an Putin apologist. Not based on a single example of me having done so, but either just because they think its funny or just because they have animosity towards me and wish to slander me in some way. And then they extend the attacks to all socialists.

3. To some the proximity of existential crisis feels greater than ever before in our lifetimes. Other posters feel very comfortable and think the status quo is acceptable. We no longer disagree merely over how to solve an agreed upon issue, but over whether what feels like an existential issue to some is even worth dealing with to others. Some posters think that we are on the brink of civilization-altering environmental catastrophe, an increasing concentration of wealth and power that could soon border on oligarchy, and a global fascist movement that threatens not only democracy but also environmental and social collapse, and that all three of these trends will have horrific impacts on the black and brown poor in our country and across the world. Other posters don't believe that any of these concerns are important enough to be worth sacrificing any measure of their own wealth and comfort nor consider changing our way of governing or economic system. And when the more concerned posters bring up their concerns there's little effort by the status quo defenders to use objective data or well-researched positions to show why our concerns are unfounded, instead we get trolled, insulted, and condescended to. The depth of concern we feel, and the ease and arrogance with which those concerns are dismissed by people operating from a certain degree of comfort, has deepened the division.

There may be other factors but those are the three largest that I see.

1) it was just this board. Look at any other boards during that time, for example the dailykos. Those divisions remain to this day.

2) I dunno, feels like people have less time on their hands since covid. Maybe the pandemic changed people's views on what this site is, and what it isn't and that's reflected in their posts.

3) The most significant one yet. I think I have asked you this question before, but looking at history, do you truly believe the sweeping change you want to see can be accomplished without violence?

Maybe not for you, but the tolerance level has changed in HL. Not talking about cussing the trolls either. Respectful conversation has left this board. Folks can't exchange ideas without implying people are dumb, or liars or worse. I would raise my hand and say at this stage it's easier to say fukk you, and move on.

Also before anyone comes for me, I do respect your opinions. I am not trying to get at anyone specifically.

We have had our jokes and disagreements, but I learn something everyday when I read your posts, especially as it relates to American political policy from a black perspective. So I am not cussing anyone, just commenting that things have changed.

Nothing is ever accomplished in these threads and that's by design.

People just want to play the victim.

Do you think that by naming your ad hominem this time it looks any less pathetic than the 15 previous times you've tried ad hominem in this thread? :what:

Not having TV or playing any video/computer games of any type, as well as posting on social media and using Youtube very sparingly, I almost certainly have less screen time than most folk here despite posting on this forum way too much. And wtf does "avoiding MSM" have anything to do with these posts? You're flailing.
You're a man who wrote a suicide letter about why you left a message board and you're back doing the same things you said drove you away.

I think you're unstable. I safely assume your life at home isn't good.

I know you have resentment against your peers who took advantage of their ivy or ivy-adjacent education and moved up the social ladder.

But the reality is, you're a liar.

You grew up around white people. You didn't embrace your blackness until after college (ball didn't work out right?).

Your talk about Compton isn't about how you grew up or shared experience, but just the things you experienced when you you spent some time with your wife's family.

You're a lost nikka. And nothing is going to save you. No dap. No banner. No rep. Nothing.

Log off and save your marriage and raise your kids if you haven't lost that already.
