Didn't even read, just the notion to draw any comparison is ridiculously stupid

Me Against the World, All Eyez on Me, and The Don Killuminati The 7 Day Theory are all top 10/top 5, arguably GOAT albums - throw in Thug Life: Volume 1 and you've got Tupac dropping nothing but classic material between 1994-1996, consistency doing better than Ray Allen at the free throw line. Tupac is by far the greatest songwriter to ever come out of hip-hop, his work transcends the genre. If hip-hop were to die, Tupac's work would still endure - that's why his fan base was so annoyed when they started trying to make the production on the posthumous releases sound like the current sound of hip-hop.

Tupac's songwriting is unsurpassed. He was more productive, more successful, more creative, and more influential than any other act in hip-hop. For me, quite simply, Tupac's songwriting is one of popular music's greatest treasures - far beyond just hip-hop
You prolly shoulda read cuz hes not even comparing the two :francis:

man it's one thing to be a stan, but then to enforce their stannery upon the rest of us and insist we are stupid for not giving Pac 3 classics, and saying "herp derp don't compare him to Kanye".

I didn't encounter this shyt in the Jay thread. The Jay stans were mellow as fukk lol, and just did what they had to do.
:mjlol: OP confirmed retarded. But we shouldn't expect much from Wu stans :mjlol:

So graduation, college dropout, late registration aren't classics? You know how influential those albums are? :mjlol:

And AEOM, MATW, and 7DT are classics too. But go ahead and tell us otherwise :mjlol:

here's my point personally. I don't disagree with you about influence. But the first issue is quality for me. That's why I knocked down AEOM and why I would knock down Graduation IF it was eligible for this thread. you see what I'm saying?

But I won't penalise anyone who thinks otherwise. I just don't want stans or anti-artist folk to fukk up the voting due to inherent bias outside careful thought.

Its impact and influence and replayability of its best songs all these years later ... that makes it a classic to me.

It's one of those records that any report, publication, book, documentary, whatever ... that examines rap culture ... HAS to mention AEOM.

Sure, you could trim some fat off it. But the 16-18 best songs are some of Pac's finest work. Because the quality tracks are of *such* a high quality, I won't penalize him for the filler.

Agreed....AEOM is one of the only classic albums, if not the only classic album, that I give a pass for it's filler. It's definitely got filler but the 16-20 best joints are fukking legendary songs

I have a feeling that artists with more recent albums are gonna get penalized in threads like this, but it'll be interesting nonetheless to see the outcome.

you like to emphasize I'm a Wu stan even though you have no real proof of that. Your fukkery in this thread has all but confirmed you would take it up the ass from your beloved Pac because you are trying to enforce your shyt on others. I justified my reasoning and that's it. No point trying to fight it or insult me when you couldn't read the thread properly in the first place.

Ayyo these nikkas are IDIOTS. They really in here thinking it's a Pac vs Ye comparison thread:dead:

bruh and even when I tell them it isn't....they continue to fight me lol.

also, as I said, I put polls up for people to vote, no point fighting EVERYONE who doesn't agree with your opinion. I respectfully stated my reasons for leaving AEOM out of the classic label for me PERSONALLY, and bam thread went to shyt. As I said, the Jay thread (where you could expect hostility) and the Black Star + Rakim thread everyone was DISCUSSING things in a civilised manner.

But I guess that tells you a lot about the maturity of certain fanbases eh?

First you say this:sas1:.

"trying to reach a conclusion as to what defines a classic album. After much discussion, I am running with this definition personally:

Classic: 1. An album considered by consensus of the core hip hop community to be of the highest quality (doesn't have to be perfect or flawless, just an album that the consensus deems the shyt).
2. Assuming that condition 1 is met, is this an album that has stood the test of time amongst the core hip hop community? Is that an album still held in high regard, still referenced at least ten years after its release? By a consensus of the hip hop community?"

Then you say this:scust:

"All Eyez on Me doesn't have the quality. Making it a double album hurt it imo in terms of that, so it rules it out for me as a classic album, although it certainly has influence and impact and relevance."

So do you or do you not agree with the criteria you agreed on in the first post, but disagreed with about 5 post later:jbhmm:
