What would that matter? It would be a bunch of white people and casual fans. Who cares what they think?

Because one of the definitions of classic is transcending the genre.

An example would be Nirvana - Nevermind, I know so many nikkas who fukk with that album heavy and they don't mes with that genre of music at all.

Same can be said about AEOM.

Thanks to everyone for this...interesting discussion. Goddamn you'd think this was a Pac exclusive thread.

RIP Ye

the results will reveal themselves tomorrow anyway

if y'all wanna make suggestions for tomorrow's discussion thread i.e. which artists, tag me in a post or something and make a suggestion

Every Pac album is a classic to me except for the posthumous fukkery like Pac's Life and Loyal To The Game

I only consider Kanye's first album a classic...i have a soft spot for MBDTF.. other than that i dont care for his albums just songs scattered throughout.

I voted yes for MATW, AEOM and Makaveli.
No to everything else.
The first two Pac albums were easy no votes.
The two Kanye albums were a tough call. I think both of them have issues with quality and timelessness. Reading the thread though, I'm not sure if I'm injecting too much of my personal opinion into my decision on Kanye :jbhmm:
A lot of interesting discussion in this thread after the GOAT Pac Stan @Nomad1 came through and crushed the buildings. :wow:
Then that delusional weirdo @Wally Russell trolling. :mjlol:
@Illeye buckmatic remember when he made that thread about you that backfired? And the whole Coli ran a neg train on him. :lolbron:
That nikka was like it wasn't supposed to turn out like this:mjcry:

so with all this in mind, you think Wu Forever is classic or nah?

You see, I'm not denying AEOM impact or importance either, but since quality is a pre-requisite for me, I feel I've justified why it lacked the quality to even allow me to progress and evaluate the other factors e.g. impact or relevance etc.

No I don't. But i dont know if im thr best judge of that. Maybe i am.

Because I'm not a east coast head, i don't have a natural inclination to that gritty type of sound.

So what may be a classic to some, is aiight to me. That could be how u are with AEOM.

At the same time tho, I have the following CDs: Tical, 36 chambers, OB4CL, ironman, liquid swords, supreme clientele.

Wu tang forever is not on that level. Like when I bump cuban links or liquid swords I KNOW that's a classic. It may not be my exact style of rap but I still fukk with it heavy.

Wu tang forever not so much but its been years. I would cop it only cuz I have 36 chamber, the w and iron flag (I stopped buying CDs in the early 00s) but its pricier than the average CD plus can't easily find it

While we're on the subject...the other wu album i m missing from their 90s run is odbs first... I heard shimmy shimmy ya and brooklyn zoo and shyt but I never heard the album cuz I never took odb serious but I've seen cats big up that album here...

All Eyez on Me doesn't have the quality. Making it a double album hurt it imo in terms of that, so it rules it out for me as a classic album, although it certainly has influence and impact and relevance.

if All Eyez On Me was one album, I'd have no problem calling it classic.

Bumping Can't C Me right now :banderas:

Life Goes On :mjcry: I think that shyt is lowkey up there with TROY as GOAT funeral sad songs.

I said no across the board.

People....read the fukking thread. Y'all know how this shyt works. This is the THIRD thread, I'd expect these questions in the Jay-Z thread.

This is The Coli. Few people read and are capable of comprehension. I'm surprised you haven't caught a couple negs yet :lolbron:

nah I'm not a stan I'm very honest. You think I'm like the only person who thinks WTF is better than AEOM right? Because that's such a crazy opinion to have right?

Jeez who knew that Pac stans would be the most hostile? I literally had no issues in the Jay-Z or Rakim and Black Star threads. But put Ye and Pac together it's a disaster waiting to happen. They can't handle any opinion that doesn't conform with their own.

exactly

None of Pac's albums are GOAT contenders.
Maybe not by magazines etc but heard a lot of people cite a Pac album as a GOAT album, 1 of the last 3, particularly AEOM or 7DT. Even myself personally my GOAT album AEOM. So I guess it depends what's through what medium and by who.

What bullshyt wont @kingofnyc believe when it fits his narrative, and never ending hate mission of Pac:jbhmm:

Somebody saying that bullshyt of album Yeezus reminded them of S4MN should've been the first clue,if not that the last paragraph with Jay-Z's response:mjlol:

Jay-Z, who collaborated with Kanye on their joint studio album Watch the Throne had this to say about the controversy:

“You know I love Kanye. He’s my boy. But that’s messed up, man. He shouldn’t be throwin’ those rabbit punched down low on 2Pac.”

AEOM is only considered a classic because of it's sales(there's a lot of fluff/gloss on that album) and 7DT for the whole death mystery(bomb first alone was a hurtin beat, the last verse on hailmary).

most of kanye's shyt is pretty dinky/soft, especially after LR.
Speaking as someone who grew up in CA and was there when AEOM was released. That album was considered a masterpiece by the people pretty much immediately. For pretty much two years straight it seemed that was all you heard coming out of cars. I've never seen an album more beloved by the people. Nothing even comes close. Sales really didn't have anything to do with it.
