I think we're looking at different conceptions of filler.

Filler doesn't just mean whack shyt that should have never made the album, it also extends to the shyt that doesn't NEED to be on the album. How many times you heard people say, damn if Pac's album was just disc 1 or we could get all the best songs onto one disc, it could be the GOAT album?

I think you hit the nail on the head with generic. As I said to someone else, long parts of disc 2 felt like one long song. Disc 1 was classic. Disc 1 set the standard, and disc 2 failed to match. Both discs had to be on roughly the same level to justify a DOUBLE DISC album being a classic.

But I appreciate your time to make a compelling argument and I respect your opinion likewise. As I also said earlier, I don't think anyone is dumb for calling AEOM a classic, even though I don't agree with it myself. I can see why it would be called one.

And yeah no rap album is perfect, but this album has more flaws than most classics do, and that's because it is a double disc. That's the only real reason for it suffering in any way in my estimation. It has a ton of classic songs, the good outweighs the bad, but there's too much bad for me.

Bruh, I am a hip hop head, and I have a genuine appreciation for the subjectivity of music. I can respect that you feel AEOM leaves a lot to be desired. What Im saying though, is that for a WEST coast head, for a FUNK lover, that shyt that you find to be EHHH, we find to be CLASSIC

Rather be ya nikka for example. You may not fukk with it. I love that song. I loved the original I love the sample, I loved the hook I loved the game RR and Pac were droppin, the way they were going back and forth etc

So I can totally dig why some cats don't fukk with that album, it was very CALI esque, but you gotta respect the classicness of it

I remember when that album dropped. My whole building was snapping over it, cuz like I said Toronto is a NY influenced city. I remember my boy coppin it and we all went to his house, spent the whole weekend listening to it. I never fukked with it. I just couldn't get with it. Now, I went back years later and revisited the album, I think its a good album, but I could never LOVE it. But I wont deny its impact etc.

Its the only Wu album Im missing from their 93-97 run.

am I wrong?

AEOM is probably the most well known of his supposed 3 classics, and it doesn't have universal acceptance quite like an Illmatic does.

None of Pac's albums are GOAT contenders.

Me Against The World and All Eyez On Me are on a lot more top 20 hip-hop albums of all time lists than they aren't.

I honestly believe if you did a worldwide poll on people's favourite hip-hop album ever All Eyez On Me is top 3. Easily.

Ill accept that argument even if I don't agree, I think that's more due to NY influenced media and Pac being the polarizing figure that he was

So he doesn't have the GOAT album

He has the GOAT run tho :sas1:

Got that GOAT catalogue tho :sas2:

so with all this in mind, you think Wu Forever is classic or nah?

You see, I'm not denying AEOM impact or importance either, but since quality is a pre-requisite for me, I feel I've justified why it lacked the quality to even allow me to progress and evaluate the other factors e.g. impact or relevance etc.
