This ain't gonna be shyt like "Clockers" which is my problem. I'm from NY but I feel Spike is fukked up for this. He should've shown Chicago the same respect he showed our city with Clockers. Just cause people don't want no damn satire movie don't mean nikkas want "another Menace 2 Society" like people tryna say in this thread. People need something. Smart. Witty. Deep. Serious. Creative and informative. That reflects the city the movie is based off of. And for the cats saying "this ain't technically about Chicago. Ain't no such thing as Chiraq anyway". Gimme a fukkin break. Dude used the name based off of what people call Chicago now and the popularity the word has. That's even more offensive. This movie didn't even have to be titled what it is. But he did it cause it's a buzzword to generate more interests. It's bullshyt. I WISH this was like Clockers.

I think Spike could have did some damage control if he made it CLEAR this was a satire. He also should have made it clear Chi-Raq is only used to represent "Any Ghetto, USA" and it's for a broader sense of gang violence.

If he made that clear (some people thought they were getting a documentary, etc.) people would be far more open minded.

But when you think you're getting Clockers . Which had commentary as well "on gun toting video games, alcohol, young kids who really believe rappers are gangsters, etc"

I thought these were the kind of gems we were getting

Maybe because people were actually expecting a deep and powerful film touching upon the extreme struggle and violence in Chicago and broadcasting it to the world? Maybe people were expecting the drill scene to be touched upon? Black men without father figures having to survive? Kids with guns and no guidance? Or maybe how society abandoned those in Chiraq?

Not some colorful Tyler Perry like comedy that in a way mocks the struggle in Chiraq. I actually have sympathy for people from Chicago who are not feeling this film. We were expecting something like "Menace to Society" or "Boyz N the Hood". And boy I have been longing for black hood films such as those. But nope we're not getting those type of films.
