Can't wait, Spike is a cinematic genius. Also this isn't the first time Spike has touched on black violence in a major city:

"Chiraq" is basically coming out on the 20th anniversary of "Clockers" a film that deals with "Hood" Violence in the streets of Brooklyn. I think Satire is perfectly fine because jewels will be dropped all throughout. "Baboozled" bodied Hollywood historical racism problems and it was full satire. Also I love how Spike continues to make films that are unapologically Black. He's getting an Honorary Oscar this year and he has constantly sh!tted on the Academy for being racist. I can't wait for this movie, really good cast as well.

Maybe Spike should of had special advisers from the city. I always felt Spike captured the essence of NYC in his films.

since the majority havent seen the movie yet, this sounds like people are complaining just to complain...

also: isnt the point of the film to bring attention to the shyt that's going on in black communities in chicago and other cities?...the best way to do that is make a movie that appeals to the most people....if he were to do a more realistic movie, that shrinks the audience pool, which defeats the purpose....

if he just wanted to retell a Greek comedy rather than focus on issues affecting chicago violence, then yeah he's just latching onto the recent violence in Chicago to gain attention for the film. rhymefest read the whole script and even he felt it exploited poor people. i know that there aren't many AA big names in spike's field as we'd like, but he shouldn't be given a pass if this is true.

Wish Spike would've said "fukk it, it's satire and a very serious movie" and left it at that. With all due respect to the people who have been affected by gun violence, he should've kept it as vague and abstract as possible. :yeshrug:
