Comparing Taiwan to Afghanistan is a false equivalence but hey! Propaganda serves many purposes.

The more accurate question would be that if China really decided they wanted to use force to get Taiwan back, would it be a unilateral fight on the Taiwanese side or would there be a coalition interest in protecting Taiwan's independence.

Yes, the US is bad but capping for China is definitely not the move. China is releasing these statements as part of its psychological war campaign. Black Men, sitting around discussing other groups of men making power moves and hoping these groups "be nice" to us is really pathetic. This shows many black men are weak. China's economy is based on cheap manufacturing/labor. This worked wonders for them over the past 40 years and allowed them to pull hundreds of millions out of poverty, build a middle class and increase their GDP tremendously during this time frame, but it's not sustainable for a developed country. As their middle class grows and the cost of living and quality of life improves, that cheap labor pool shrinks and the labor costs increase. China is only good to the West as long as the labor+logistics is cheaper than other developing countries. Its currently in a race against time to switch from their cheap labor/manufacturing export economy or it will get stuck in a middle income trap. The west was already slowly shifting manufacturing to other developing countries and COVID just sped up this process. China's economic powerhouse status is entirely dependent on the continued influx of the dollar/eruo. If they have nothing the west deems valuable their economy stalls.

This is one of the reasons there's a huge technology push from the current regime and why the move Trump made against Huawei was really a chess move. There's a tech cold war going on right now and Taiwan is basically gold because of their chip manufacturing prowess. Anyone who thinks the US won't pull all the stops to defend Taiwan isn't paying attention.

Still.. China needs the west more than the west needs China. It won't be pretty for either side but China will suffer much more longer lasting economic effects if they get out of pocket before they can walk on their own 2 feet.

The bigger move is people are seeing high tech moving to India as well. So basically China is about to be frozen out especially as a lot of that low-cost labor is also transitioning to Africa. We could look up in 50 years and people wonder what happened to China’s massive growth rate
