Sad part is those 300, OTF, GBE "rappers" are praised and idolized.
So that doesn't help those who want to be a part of their affiliation when it comes to violence because they probably feel "about that life."

one thing that I was thinking about over the past week is how that both the west side and south side of chicago are job deserts. meaning there really ain't no industries or places really employing folks.

u gotta be downtown or in the suburbs or northside to get a job. not saying thats the cause, but it is kinda ridiculous the lack of industry in the areas heavily populated with minorities.

This act of being able to kill people ruthlessly goes beyond a 'it's because we are bored and have no jobs so we are just gonna kill each other now'.

As @Will Ross said these kids have become numb to violence and think nothing of killing another human being they also lack self control.

yes, i fully understand the element of violence just like i understand nikkas aint gon work for 75 dollars a week. would you work for 75 dollars a week if you could make 3x that in a day?

what the fukk is 75 dollars a week going to buy? thats not enough money to cover the food you'd be consuming throughout the week. its not that these dudes just want "fast money", they money to live off of -- and no one is providing them w/opportunities to make that money except those in the drug game.

if you give these kids a choice between working their asses off for 75 a week, or moving them packs for 800 a week; what do you think their going to pick? like @Captain_Crunch said, these people need jobs. if they had a choice between working a legit job that paid the bills and gave them a lil extra money to play, do you think they'd be in the streets?




right, they need fathers; but what the fukk are these useless sperm donors going to do for their children w/o proper finances? what can they instill in their children? what morals or ethics would children learn from seeing their do-nothing, there but aint shyt dads? i mean, i personally believe single mothers are better off alone compared to being forced into a fake family situation with a destructive partner (eg: dads that record their kids smoking weed or think its cool for them to act like degenerates)

it all comes back to to the money, community building, and passing down wealth. until we get that in order, we will continue to see dysfunction.

every other community has a buffer zone to catch those that fall through the cracks. an uncle or cousin with a successful business, someone that can put you on. black males do not have that safety net, and it pours out into other areas like relationships, parenting, and of course, crime.

man most low level drug dealers ain't even seeing anywhere close to $800 a week. lets be reality. that level of income would put them in the top 2% of drug dealers these days.

you can't even really serve like that out in the open no more. too much technology these days to get popped off.

I know a cat who's a little younger who's been in that world for over 15 years. no real job ever other than when we were teenagers working at a grocery store in the mid 90's.

now after a series of setbacks due to being arrested for a few charges, he faces the harsh reality that the days of him hustling are over. dude really isn't a bad guy, but doesn't have any skills really or work history.

and even at the height of his hustling, he was probably making like $1000-$1500 a week. and that was like 10 years ago and he has absolutely NOTHING to show for it these days. had cars, but lost or crashed them. had gear, but someone broke in his crib to get his work and took that shyt. never had any property, so what's he got besides memories? its kinda like boston george at the end of "blow". dude was flabby and trying to set up that one last score only to catch another charge at the end

that kinda lifestyle is really short-sighted when u really think about it.

yeah i was over exaggerating to make a point, but it is short sighted, extremely short sighted. which is why these are usually decisions made at a young age.

Earn it doing what ? That is the question. Selling drugs ? When I was 17 I worked in retail I'm sure I could have earned 3x earning what I did selling drugs but I didn't want to sell drugs.

speaking of wages, the mayor is trying to get the chicago minimum wage up to $15. if that were to happen, I find it hard to believe employers are going to go out of their way to hire these street nikkas over other candidates

not to mention the influx of job candidates who will come here from the suburbs and northwest indiana to work further diluting the candidate pool.

I see the discussion is about finances of the average poor black/brown person in Chicago, but let's not assume all of these shootings were financial related. This is just the annual Chicago summertime kick off. Scores and rivalries were being settle. I bet most of these shooting were over dumber shyt than drug sales

This also. I dont know how many times i got caught up in stupid beefs.. Whats sad tho is alot of them dont want to do this type of stuff, but its the only way you can stay cool with everybody.One summer we had beef with people who live up the street from us. I didnt want to beef with them. but what is a person suppose to do when your whole block is beefing with them?So i went along like an idiot.. Dudes was waitng for us. Luckily nothing popped off.So afterwards i started staying in the house and playing Quake 2 for most of the summer.. haha they went without me and was shot at( noobdy was hit ). and one was stabbed.. Imagine if I kept caving in to peer pressure.


edit: and the whole thing started because one of the boys up the street had a Tv in his car , came thru our block to say wassup to my brother.. Some of us thought he was trying to stunt..
