1. all the notorious ghettos of america are former industrial zones that attracted southern blacks. this migration of blacks caused white people to leave whole sections of the city but since the new blacks all had jobs, everything was ok. once the economy decided to send jobs away, there was nothing left and the government transitioned into managing the black population like open air prisons. the ghetto is a creation of policy. the people are warehoused there so they stay away from parts of chicago that everybody else wants. failing to decriminalize drugs means there will be a war over the black market because brehs are broke. chicago pd has also been accused of instigating gang beefs and picking and choosing winners in gang wars. mass incarceration policy actively brings low level hooligans into contact with hardened criminals in jail and prison and then turns them out with even worse job prospects and new criminal connections.
2. the activists are mostly doing piecemeal things that wont move the needle, and the government is wearing kente cloth, kneeling, but refusing to cut police budgets so we can send money to things that will actually provide a decent american life for blacks in these ghettos

Video is less than 12 minutes but for those that are not able to watch, some of the main points:
* Lupe feels that he has been ostracized for calling out ALL acts of violence against black people (including black-on-black crime).
* He understands that people are upset about police brutality, but we should keep the same energy for black-on-black crime which is arguably worse.
* In reference to Rayshard Brooks people are worried about firing cops that were actually (relatively) respectful and calm when interacting with Rayshard until he became violent, but Lupe hasn't heard a word on the 104 people that were shot over the weekend.
* Hood dudes are being rewarded for their toxic behavior (influenced by music) and that is having a negative impact on our community in the form of extreme violence.
For reference - Lupe is discussing the violence that took place over Father's Day weekend. More than 104 people (mostly black) shot and so far 14 people were killed. You can read more about it here:

That's why i don't get these arguments. What exactly does he want, for people to be held accountable? they are already, too much in fact.
For people to stop? you can't protest criminals. everyone already agrees on it. Nobody is like i was pro getting shot until it happened to me.

he really went "what about black on black crime" as if he doesn't know the difference between gang violence (where the gangbangers ill go to jail) and police brutality (where the cops get off) and that's why folks protest brutality.
And he's also acting as if there aren't whole organizations dedicated to trying to help end gang/violence tough community activities for the youth and other programs (Which pretty much shut down the whole "no one cares when its black on black violence" bs)
