No most Iandlords don’t take section 8 in those neighborhoods or the rent is high most people from the city move to areas that’s already hood because it’s affordable

So something has to be done to get those people to a higher income level. What can be done? Is it a lack of effort, and ambition, or lack of resources?

Obviously some of those guys have excellent untapped technical skills. The interest is there but the exposure never was. I seriously believe that if you give a man the opportunity to work with sophisticated machinery to make stuff, you have him. If the pay is decent enough they wont want to head back to the Ave..:yeshrug:

There's no stopping it.

Too much blood has been spilled.

The violence of Chicago (and this world) will outlive us, our kids, their kids, and so on.

Just my opinion.

So mass incarceration and pushing poor people out of the city?
it's not the most moral or ethical method but it worked, Genghis Khan had a large empire and the people rarely revolted. Why? Because most of the women were raped and the a lot of the villagers got killed. Morally or ethically right? No but it worked

Autocratic methods which unfortunately is impossible in an individualistic and litigious society like America. I'm not even joking.

You have to separate the kids from the environment permanently and dilute it by taking them out of it completely and putting them in a new one. Mandatory reform schools for problem children. Kids who are simply individuals living in the hell but under the right circumstances would be receptive to a less chaotic environment will then be the only ones left behind with the riff raff removed. There are some folks who are unfortunately at a point that they are so gone its hard to save them.

The problem has gotten way too ingrained in most of these communities because you have kids having kids, for several generations now. A culture of dysfunction is also ingrained. It's not just poverty because poverty alone does not make one black man see another black man life as being as worthless as taking a piss. Being poor doesn't make murder and dehumanizing your brothers any easier with a proper conscious and guidance.

EDIT: Don't know why OP singled out Chicago though. There are many communities around the country, and lets be honest, majority black, that have the same issues that people focus on Southside Chicago about.
pretty much this, if most of the younger generation has a fukk you what have you done for me lately attitude and won't listen to the OG's on the street then what makes people think they would listen to outside help.

You have to force them to do it, which is against the american way of thinking to a degree

Despite dips in recent years in gun violence and the sanctioned stay-at-home orders, Chicago saw its deadliest Memorial Day weekend in four years.

At least eight people were fatally shot over the weekend and 24 were injured in shootings as of Monday afternoon, according to Chicago Police data reviewed by CNN.

Last year, there were at least five people killed over the Memorial Day weekend, down from at least six fatalities in 2018, 2017 and 2016, according to Chicago police and CNN affiliate WGN.
This year's victims include a 16-year-old boy who was shot just after midnight Saturday while walking on the city's South Side. Police records show a suspect is in police custody.

Chicago's stay-at-home orders are still in effect until the end of the month, the city's website states. Under the order, places like bars, nightclubs and dine-in restaurants are closed. City residents are allowed to participate in "outdoor activity," which includes walking, running, and biking.

Nine people have been killed, four of them minors, and 51 others have been wounded in shootings across Chicago so far this weekend

Nine people have been killed, four of them minors, and 51 others have been wounded in shootings across Chicago so far this weekend.

A 13-year-old girl was killed and two other teens were wounded Saturday night in Austin on the West Side.

The girl was inside a home about 8:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of North LeClaire Avenue when the shots were fired, and she was struck in the neck, Chicago police said. She was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified her as Amaria J. Jones.

Two boys, 15 and 16, were sitting on a porch when one of them noticed a red laser pointing at him and heard gunfire, police said. The younger boy was struck in the back and the older boy was struck in the leg. They were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

A 3-year-old boy was fatally wounded about two hours earlier when someone opened fire at his father while they were driving in Austin.

The toddler, identified as Mekay James, was struck in the back about 6:25 p.m. when someone in a blue Honda pulled behind the black SUV the boy’s 27-year-old father was driving in the 600 block of North Central Avenue and fired several rounds, authorities said.
